MOVIE SCENES THAT MAKE ME CRY!!!
Ahh, nothing quite like a good cry - whether it's a happy cry, a joyful cry, or a cry that wells in your throat and bursts out in a fully fledged heart wrenching sob…….there’s something to be said…
And the culprits……..these are some of mine…
The movie: Pay if Forward - The scene: After the death of the young boy, a stream of cars and people arrive at the family home to pay their respects….I sobbed like a baby
The movie: The Colour Purple - The scene: Right at the end when Celie meets her two children for the first time.
The movie: Terms of Endearment - The scene: When she dies…..
The movie: Anne of Green Gables - The scene: When Matthew dies…
The movie: The Champ (the later version) - The scene: His father dies…
The movie: Bambi - The scene: When his mother dies
….yes, death is sad….but these Hollywood/Disney professionals do it sooooo well! Thank god in real life when someone dies, we don’t have to listen to music that heightens the pain like it does in a film!
Happy Cries??
The Little Mermaid - when Ariel is on the rock, having just saved Prince Eric. A wave crashes up behind her as she sings out a beautiful tune… “I don’t know when, I don’t know how, but I know something’s started right noooooooow……….” music crescendos, waves splash, it’s a beautiful moment and my heart fills with hope…god I love a good ‘moment’.
Dirty Dancing - from the moment Johnny walks back in the door and says, “Nobody puts baby in a corner” - then takes her up to the stage and dances with her…another beautiful romantic moment…*sigh*…..
When Harry met Sally - the final scene when they finally get it together!!!
Sleepless in Seattle - the final scene on top of the Empire State Building….how romantic!!!
Films where the happy endings involve love, finding someone, succeeding in something, making friends and making up with enemies - all aspects of life we’d all like to aspire too I’m sure…
