More Gang Problems

November 23rd 2010 22:15

I suppose you are wondering why I have arrived early, my somewhat flustered wife said. She was looking stressed out, was definitely not her usual calm, and collected self. We had been married almost two years and I asked if she was missing me.

Hine then told me that the two rival gangs in our street had clashed on our front lawn. She then went on to tell me how she calmly got in the van and drove through them. I finished work and we headed for home. The street and our front lawn was a mess. Rocks and stones were scattered across the front lawn and all over the road. Pieces of a fire hydrant and then an axe were, lying on the driveway that ran up to our house, not good.

I took the axe to the police station and handed it in to the lost property office. As the nights were cold, the next-door neighbour wanted the axe to chop wood. I very nicely explained what I had done with it. She went down to the police station to claim it but the police would not give it to her.

Already in this neighbourhood, we had to take our valuables away with us. Our home was getting broken into regularly and now the gang problem forced us into a corner. We often prayed about these people and then one day I decided to put the house on the market and we would all go seek our fortune in God.

At first Hine was not to keen on the idea. She had just relocated to be with me and was now feeling at home. Together we began to seek the Lord. Christchurch was the place to go and we began to make preparations.
