About Me
There is not much to tell. I am in my 50's, single. I love to read and write. I was a radio announcer for 12 years. I love sci-fi movies as longs as there are no bugs or monsters, I lean more toward futuristic movies mainly.

Game of Thrones

June 17th 2011 21:04

Is anyone following the HBO series, Game of Thrones, base on the fantasy novel by George R.R. Martin?
I was surprised that one of the main characters, Ned Stark, played by Sean Bean was executed in the first season. This story is about seven kingdoms, and Ned Stark is the Lord of Winterfell. However, there are rumors that Ned Stark might come back as a supernatural entity. Who knows.
It starts out his best friend travels with his family to Winterfell to ask Ned Stark to become hand of the king, since the one before him was murdered. I am not a fan of fantasy, however, I am a fan of Sean Bean, and since I have been watching this series, I am hooked. It's very well directed, and the actors are so believable as to express several emotions from the viewers.
I suggest to anyone to read the book or watch the first season of Game of Thrones.

Politics and Bioethics

August 13th 2009 07:17
Bioethicists is a scary word. During WWII the Nazi were conducting biomedical experiments on human subjects. The modern field of bioethics first emerged as an academic discipline in the 1960's.

The Bush Administration and as far as I know, Obama's Administration has a Bioethics Commission. And they do talk about end-of-life issues such as an older person with dementia and should they be encourage in assisted suicide. They talk about what makes a person not a person anymore or the person that they were. Their discussions are really quite invovled.

Bioethicists come from many different backgrounds, such as health care, philosophy, law, the social sciences, and religious studies.

The topic that bioethicists discuss are end-of-life issues. When I heard about the national health plan will have counseling for the elderly on end-of-life issues. Rationing health care in the elderly. That just floored me! However, it was explained that the counseling was for a living will.

Then I heard the other side saying that the elderly will be urged to think about physician assisted suicide. I heard that those of us that are financially poor, will not have the same quality of care that the wealthy will have.

This national health plan is not what it should be. Why would I pay in taxes, for them to tell me when I reach a certain age that I should think about physician assisted suicide, or if a family that doesn't pay as much in taxes for the health plan because they don't make as much, will not have quality care that someone with money will. People, no matter who you are, you deserve the best quality health care there.

Some bioethicists believe that handicap (mentally and physically), the elderly, should have an expiration date because they are draining the economy. They are a burden to society. What are some people thinking?

It's AGood Movie To See

July 15th 2009 01:31
Nicolas Cage is not one of my favorites, however his films have been getting better. "Knowing" was a great movie and heartbreaking.

It starts in the year, 1958 at an elementary school where the students are putting their drawings in a time capsule. Only one girl put a paper full of numbers in the time capsule.

Knowing
This is worth watching

These numbers had to do with the future. I am a great fan of futuristic films. And this is worth watching. Their future was the present.

What Nicolas Cage's character had to give up was heartbreaking but he knew it had to be. I encourage anyone who likes Sci-fi movies, you should watch this one.

What if Rock Music Disappeared

June 18th 2009 04:24
What if one day rock music just faded away? Would there be something else to take its place? Would it be as good or better? Can you imagine not ever hearing rock music again?

I would hate to see rock music disappear, I live for rock music. Well, not really, but I would miss it very much. It's been the foundation of my youth, actually, my whole life. I love rock music

Have you ever seen the documentary, SICKO? I was so angry that the American citizen was being treated like garbage. Britain, France, and even Cuba think more of their citizen's then our government thinks of its citizens.

Is There Life On

June 13th 2009 20:16
I have seen a lot of things, but a UFO is not one of them. Would I like to see a UFO? Yes and no. I would as long as they did not swoop down and pick me up to do experiments on me. No, if that is what they wanted to do.

I know a lot of people who are terrified if it was learned that there are actually intelligent life on other worlds. And they believe as long as there is no proof, then they are safe. They do not have to worry about it

I have had experiences with the spirit world or the paranormal, whatever you want to call it all my life. However, I have never had a bad experience, except when I smell flowers.

When I was ten, I was walking down the sidewalk with some friends and it was just starting to get dark out. We were coming upon this one house and I immediately stopped, because an angel in blue appeared in the yard

I love sci-fi movies, even the B sci-fi movies. Like, "The Class of 1999" or "The Roller Boys" those were some good movies.

Have you ever seen the movie, "Cube" that was scary, but worth watching. "Scanners" is a great movie, so is "Escape From New York

Assisted Living and the Elderly

June 4th 2009 05:09
A year ago, after my father past away, my mother was trying to get through her grieving for him when she started having medical problems and her diabetes was causing her great problems. Finally, she had to have part of her right leg amputated. Then my sister passed away and she was the baby of the family. So my mother had to deal with a lot. My brother lived with my mother, and my sister and her husband live down the road from them. After all this happened, my sister and brother did not want to deal with my mother. In fact, their exacts words were, they will not tie up their days for her. This really made me angry, how could they treat her like that. Well, I flew up there to check out my mother, because I was getting conflicting news about her from my brother and sister. They said she would not do anything. Anyway, once I arrived, I drove to the assisted living center where she lived and it was a beautiful place, and the people there were very sweet. I was so glad to see my mother and was so amazed how much she could do on her own, but she was depressed, lonely and frustrated. She did not belong in that place no matter how beautiful and good the people were to her. She was not with family and that is who she needs to be with. My mother lives with me now, and she is very happy and that is the way it should be.

I realized, while I was at the assisted living center, that no matter how good the place is, if there isn't any family contact everyday, that the elderly actually start giving up. All their life they have been with family, raised children, and then when they grow old and there are changes, the family seems to forget about them when they are sent away to nursing homes. The elderly become depressed, lonely, and basically give up. This was happening to my mother. I could not let that happen. I promised her she would never be sent to one of those places ever again

on The Ft. Hood Tragedy

If he wanted out of the military that bad, all he had to do is resign his commission. Any commissioned officer can do that. Obviously, he did not want out bad enough.

This was premeditated, he had planned this for weeks. His blogs, and visits to radical Muslim websites proved it. I am tired of people making up excuses for them.

I am with you S.L., we have to stop pandering to Muslims. They come to our country and expect us to change, to fit their beliefs. I am telling you, It is not going to happen! We have to start defending America!

And I want to say, Thank You, to Officer Munley for taking Hasan down. Otherwise, the death toll might have been higher.

Morgan, no, my sister has his book, and she read it from that. I don't care what he is as long as he is for the American citizen.

Anyway Jeff, you are right. It's a sad thing. I truly wish you well.

I believe the book was called, Dreams of My Father, and I don't know what page it was, my sister had called me and read it to me.

I think it is all serious. How we are judge by each other. It really makes me angry that people have a say over my personal beliefs, or anyone's personal beliefs.

on Atheists in America...

Actually, according to Obama's book, he is Muslim and a socialist. In public they practice Christianity.

I have had no problem with people when I tell them I am not religious. I don't want to be Christian, or any other religion. They seem to make up their own rules, rewrite the Bible to suit them. I don't believe in that.

As for declaring yourself Christian to hold public office, I wouldn't know. I have never wanted to hold public office.

But it is not only here in the U.S. with this problem. 95% of the human population is of one kind of religion or another. The problem is world wide. Especially with the extremists.

Besides, I don't think it's anyones business how they believe. That is personal.

I am not religious and I don't believe in organized religion. It's too controlling and negative. I am spiritual.

And I don't believe using God's name as an excuse to do something like to kill, to lie, or to judge. That is not what I was put here for.

Those people you talk about are very confused and afraid and are trying to find something to hang on too. So they invent, or rewrite what their God said in order to feel better about what they do.

We are all made up of energy, and energy does not die out, when we die, it leaves our body and goes out to the universe.

I also believe if you don't have faith in yourself, how can you have faith in anything else. And you probably have more faith then a believer.

Don't change yourself or your beliefs to satisfy anyone else. You have to be true to yourself. This is what I always tell my son.

I believe that everyone has the right to believe in what they want. My son is atheist and that is fine by me. I believe in a higher power and that is fine with him. We do not try and push our beliefs on each other. I don't understand why people become so abusive when you tell them you are atheist. What are they so afraid of? If you don't believe that is your business.
I do understand what you are saying, and I hope you find comfort in that you are not the only one out there.

on What To Do When You Meet A Movie Star

August 9th 2009 03:32
I met the country singer, Reba Mcantyre, and I talk with her like she was an old friend. She is the sweetest person I have ever met. She's never too busy to ask how you are doing.

I think you have to read their facial expression and body language. Maybe your friend could have asked for an autograph, or just said hello in passing.

Yes, you write for the masses, the lay people, where they understand what you are saying. Using big words may lose alot of normal people. If you want to write with big scientific, or shakespearian words, the media is not the place to do it.

Thank you for taking the time to ask why I write like this. I rather chuckled when you used the word 'bazarre'. I don't think I have ever heard that word used to describe my writing before. Maybe few thought that way, but were too kind to say anything.

It could be that my review is too childishly written and I should review my own writting. It never hurts to be critiqued. Thank you again.

You have a good day.

on Natalina takes a stand: Be nice or go away

I am a big supporter of Ron Paul. As for gay marriages and abortions. My views differ from yours. I don't care if gay people marry or not. As human beings they have the same rights a non-gay has.

As for abortions. I don't believe that if you have sex and did not protect yourself, and you show this type of stupidity over and over, you should be sterlized.

However, if a woman is raped, I believe she should be aloud to have an abortion. A friend of mine was raped, and because she did not get an abortion because her church prohibited it, she just could not take the emotional trauma of being raped and carrying that child, she committed suicide.

And 9/11, I've heard stories from different people and I have done a lot of research, and one thing that stuck out was the involvment of the Russians behind most of this. What I mean is, they pay these terrorists to train and buy weapons. If you research this, you will find that they are behind most of this.

Was this an inside job? I don't know really. As of right now, I don't have an opinion yet, I am still researching.

on My Experiences With The Other Side

Thank you for responding. Yes, skeptics do not like to admit things beyond our imagination can happen. But it is also healthy to have them around to keep our feet firmly on the ground.

Sounds like your ghostly friends like being there with you.

I hope I do not smell any more carnations for a long, long time as well.
