monday 2nd and tuesday 3rd - sick - nothing - hospital

October 2nd 2006 02:09
wow i think taking yesterday off was a good idea, i really feel like crap today.
completely blocked up, aches and pains, and that general indescribable sick feeling.
surviving on panadol.

anyway today and tomorrow i can't train anyway, because im getting a colonoscopy and endonoscopy tomorrow. not that id be able to anyway, this cold is pretty full on.
will hopefully regroup for the camp, and maybe the 5k windsprints on thurs, was still hoping to do a 5k pb in the process of that session; but it might have to wait...

but im shit scared about this operation/exam at the hospital tomorrow!

Damn a colonoscopy... that can't be fun. Good luck with it. Keep up the blog, its spurring on my running. I'm starting to build up on the longer runs. Is there any limit to how often you should limit a 1hr plus run? I got excited today and pushed out 1.5 hrs on my regular circuit and feel pretty good. A good cool down and I don't have any residual soreness. Donno if it is a good idea to be so ambitious tomorrow.

Thanks, and I'm glad you enjoy reading it!
That's great that you're getting motivated with your running, and a good long run is a cornerstone of training.
It really depends on what you're training for, but unless it's a marathon (or possibly a half) you dont need to do more than one 1.5 hour run a week. If you're comfortable running 1 hour each day, then go for that at a solid pace, but try to make one run a bit longer (1.5 hours) where you go for relaxed distance, and a couple a bit shorter for recovery, with a day or two off.
Plus make sure you get in some speed work! I'd go for 2 or 3 diff. speed work sessions, one longer run, one medium run, one short run.
In short, no, don't do 1.5 hour runs every day
Hope that helps! And tell us if you get a blog up!
