Thanks! Republimoms.com was taken (by the Momocrats - their way of attempting to stifle the conservative mom voice on the net I guess) So I went with www.momsintheright.com instead - little play on words.

The abortions would be free to those receiving them but it is me and my family and yours too who will be the ones paying for them in higher taxes and I personally find that unconscionable.

"He wants health care for everybody?"

Except he doesn't. He doesn't want health care or even compassionate care for babies who survive abortion. I find many of his ideas dangerous for the future of our country, but his views of abortion and approval of infanticide are appalling.

Moms In The Right is the name of my blog. The fine ladies over at Momocrats had already registered Republimoms to prevent anyone with conservative political leanings from creating a voice on the net for conservative moms. So I chose another name.

I am completely able to look at facts and make a rational decision. Just because my decision doesn't match yours does not mean it isn't rational. The right to life is a foundational right. Without it you do not have the right to liberty or anything else. Just because a life will be lived in poverty does that make it a life less valuable?

Why should I have the "right" to decide whether or not someone else should live?

FYI..."in 2003, Barack Obama, as chairman of an IL state Senate committee, voted down a bill to protect live-born survivors of abortion - even after the panel had amended the bill to contain verbatim language, copied from a federal bill passed by Congress without objection in 2002, explicitly foreclosing any impact on abortion. Obama's legislative actions in 2003 - denying effective protection even to babies born alive during abortions - were contrary to the position taken on the same language by even the most liberal members of Congress. The bill Obama killed was virtually identical to the federal bill that even NARAL ultimately did not oppose.

In 2000, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act was first introduced in Congress. This was a two-paragraph bill intended to clarify that any baby who is entirely expelled from his or her mother, and who shows any signs of life, is to be regarded as a legal "person" for all federal law purposes, whether or not the baby was born during an attempted abortion.

n 2002, the bill was enacted, after a "neutrality clause" was added to explicitly state that the bill expressed no judgment, in either direction, about the legal status of a human prior to live birth.

(The "neutrality" clause read, "Nothing in this section shall be construed to affirm, deny, expand, or contract any legal status or legal right applicable to any member of the species homo sapiens at any point prior to being 'born alive' as defined in this section.")

The bill passed without a dissenting vote in either house of Congress.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama, as a member of the IL State Senate, actively opposed a state version of the BAIPA during three successive regular legislative sessions. His opposition to the state legislation continued into 2003 - even after NARAL had withdrawn its initial opposition to the federal bill, and after the final federal bill had been enacted in August 2002."

No one should have the "right" to decide whether another person lives or dies.

Just to be fair, if you're going to call McCain Anti-Choice does that mean I can call Obama Anti-Life? If you look at his voting record both in IL and in the Senate, you'll see he has always voted against protecting life. He even voted against the protection of babies who survived abortion stating that allowing the baby to live would impact the mother's mental state. Just to be clear these are babies who were aborted late in the third term and could have lived much as premature babies live with the proper medical treatment, but they were killed by the Doctors performing the abortion after being removed from the mother. It is all very well to say it is a matter of reproductive choice, but I think that takes away what actually happens in the act of aborting a fetus.

"I'm even against abortion laws, as you can't legislate morality."

We legislate morality all the time. There are laws against murder and theft for instance. Those are moral issues. We legislate morals when they impact another person - except for Abortion. I personally think we should legislate Abortion much more than we do. Either we as a nation have respect for human life or we don't.

Hi There. Great post and great comments. Ruby, you have taken those statements completely out of context. If you truly wish to understand the meanings of those passages, it is important to remember both the historical background and context. It is also really important to consider the original meaning, or exegesis, because that is the true and only meaning of the verse. Although from that one meaning, there are sometimes multiple ways we can apply it to our daily lives today, those applications must not conflict with the original meaning intended by the original author for the original hearer(s).
Rev, I'm really hoping you are trying to be funny. It is true that men and women are different and were created differently, but both sexes are equally important to God.

This will be my last comment because I am apparently making you angry and that was not my intention. Please note that in my comments I have not called you names or lumped you into a basket with anyone else. You shared a book you suggested people should read and asked for comments. Maybe you just wanted comments that agreed with your preconceptions. I don't know you or your past. And you don't know me either. Please don't make assumptions.

Also, please don't presume to speak for ALL women who seek medical treatment for reproductive issues. I do not presume to speak for all women either; however, I have worked with countless women and have seen first hand the havoc that abortion causes in women's lives.

I find it interesting that women on the left are allowed to voice their opinions as loudly and using whatever language they want and are not derided for it. But when someone who is conservative or Christian tries to voice their opinion they are said to be trying to control others.

You said above that you feel that life is precious and should be honored. I agree with you. All life is precious, including the lives of unborn babies.

I'm not sure what you mean by Sky God. It isn't about religion, it's about relationship. It isn't MY Book, it is God's Book.

My relationship affects everything I do. Among many thngs I am charged by God to be a good steward of what he has entrusted to me. That is what I am trying to do.

Neither I nor God wants to control you or anyone else. God simply offers us a choice. Like with all choices in this life, there will be consequences. I personally believe that those consequences mean eternal life, either with God or without Him.

Birth Control and Abortion are really 2 separate issues imo. Abortion is murder and ultimately causes much more devastation in the life of the mother than the alternative choice would have.

I am personally not opposed to birth control. I am; however, opposed to distributing it freely and advocating its use to children without parental consent.

I am "one of those people" who believes that sex outside of marriage is a sin. But I am not the one who says it. God says it in the Bible. I believe Jesus is my savior. I cannot hope to accomplish anything without him. But I don't get to pick and choose which of Jesus' teachings or which parts of The Bible I want to believe are true. It's kind of a package deal.

It doesn't really matter if people have always done it, will always do it. It is still a sin as defined by The Bible.
But that doesn't mean it cannot be forgiven.

I have a personal relationship with my savior. I love Him, who He was who He is, who He will be. And I know that he loves Me, a miserable sinner.

Because of my love for Him I want to please Him in my actions while I am here on earth. He has brought me much JOY in the midst of some pretty awful circumstances. I would be remiss not to share this with others. It would be like keeping something fantastic a great big secret.

I am blessed to be able to share my love with others, but it does not mean I can condone their actions.
