"I'm not interested in money, I just want to be wonderful."
Probably the worlds most famous blonde, Marilyn Monroe was the bombshell of the centaury who spawned a thousand imitations. Her energy, vitality and allure hypnotize Hollywood during her short film career ( including some like it hot and gentlemen prefer blondes) but her image captured the imagination of the public forever.

A larger than life figure, images of Marilyn are now iconic and instantly recognizable. Such a strong and lasting impact sees these photos still appearing in magazines, books, bags, clothes, postcards, greeting cards
you name it!

And her image is still being reinvented and adorred by the public!

Long live the wonderful Marilyn Monroe!
The classic shift has been reinvented. Loved by fashionistas and vintage fiends for its individuality, freshness and innocence, the shift has once again returned to the fashion conscience through adoption by the catwalk and celebrities alike.
A distinctively 60s look, the shift is reminiscent of young girls dresses and uniforms. It evokes images of youth and carefree-ness. Such is the 60s philosophy and fashion!

And so the catwalk has opened up their arms to this fab trend which embodies so much fun and yet is so simple.

And t wouldn't be a true revival unless celebrities adopted the new shift (pun intended!). The shifts best accessory in 2006? High, high heels and a great pair of legs to elongate the body and flatter the clean silhouette of the shift!
Rocking the glam look takes a lot of attitude!! Always eye catching and loud, this style is major fun and indulges the diva in us all.
Glam royalty: where would the glam girls be today without the disco-diva to pave their way? Anything metallic, rhinestones, huge diamonds and glitter was their choice. Could you think of all that without Diana Ross?? Big hair, big attitude, lots of sparkle and lots of skin

Not always a favorite dresser of mine, Nicole Richie has proven herself as a vintage princess after photos of her shooting a video clip have surfaced.
It would have to be something pretty spectacular to redeem herself from such mistakes as

Today, I would like to pay homage to the original (and the best) heiress. Not Paris, Nicky or Nicole, I talk of Donna Martin (a.k.a Tori Spelling, a.k.a Aaron Spellings spawn who he put on his very own TV show) the softly spoken BBF of Kelly who had a learning disability, nearly got expelled before graduating (for being drunk at Prom), was abused by boyfriend Ray, dated geeky-turned-hot David (who cheated on her), finally looses her virginity in 97 to David (the show started in 1990), was a weather girl on TV (and stalked because of it), finds a long-lost half sister and gets married in the last season of the show. Ide like to see Paris Hilton top that. Please, one fight with Lindsay Lohan and shes all like Im THE most dramatic heiress ever. But remember Donna.
But the most important indicator of how influential Donna wa is her ability to make us blindly stumble through so many outfits of questionable clothing. Paris has done her part (Von Dutch, hair extentions, small pets and fake tan) but its not nearly as deliberating or questionable as Donnas fashion influence. This WAS the 1990s after all

A while ago I wrote about what I would do if I ever won the lottery. However, startling new evidence has revealed that this is altogether, completely and utterly untrue!! I have just learned of the one thing that I would desperately what if only I could afford it!

Who was out and about recently but Mischa Barton (surprise surprise!). Apparently, she is in New York City doing a photo shoot for a clothing company she is the face of. The clothes are awesome! How mod are they? Mini shift dresses with boots? That cool newsboy cap? Its SO something a Beatles girlfriend would have worn (and I dont mean a Beatles girlfriend who turned out to be a porn star, I mean one from the 60s!) For a second I thought it might be burberry, but then I remembered that Kate Moss is the burberry girl, so I decided to do some investigation into this retro clothing line

Last Saturday, I discovered (to my delight) that channel nine have started showing old movies in the middle of the day for those of us who enjoy a lazy weekend! How wonderful that I discovered it on the day they where screening High Society. Naturally I have seen this movie before (many a time in fact) and of course loved it.
High Society stars Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby and is set in the affluent estates of America in the 1950s. The story follows Tracy (Grace Kelly) an ice-goddess who is about to be married for a second time to a safe business man. But her charming and lovable first husband (Bing Crosby) moves into the neighborhood determined to win her back. To add to the confusion, a magazine reporter (Frank Sinatra) has been sent to cover the wedding but he falls in love with Tracy too

The one thing to always love about vintage is its constant cycle of rejuvenation. Surely your mother has said, "I had a bag/belt/top/dress/pair of shoes just like that when I was a kid. I wish I had kept it." Which of course implies that the cycle is a long-term one. That it takes a considerable amount of time for people to forget how they so violently rebelled against wedges that they threw away in a "what was I thinking" bag sometime in the 80s and now act like amnesia patients at their awful crime against fashion and taste in general which is being perpetrated again. Although, I am not here to unload about the wedge. again.
THis being said, it is NOT a vintage statement to copy something that ended within the year. It is NOT a statement to copy something which nobody liked OR appreciated in the first place. It is NOT a statement to do it even worse that the horrible original. It is NOT a statement to dress up like Jessica Simpson
