Journalism in Decline

April 21st 2007 10:11
The Electronic Media has just become a circus. It just does not follow any Journalistic ethics. As long as the general viewer are not aware of the process, they consume whatever is beamed into their home. But,once they find out that the stories are manufactured, and dramatised to enhance effect, they will get enraged certainly.

A boy and a girl goes to one TV channel explaining that they eloped and fear for their lives. The channel without realising the sensitivity of the matter takes high moral ground,as if they operate from Atlanta, weaves a Juicy story around them,construct,re-construct the story in do cu-drama style and start beaming full throat. The couple are parroted appropriate bytes and these package keep running whole day.Sometime many days continuously. It (Channel)is never concerned and sensitive enough of its own act.It forgets that we are still a very conservative society and its radical reformist action might affect not only the Couples 'family, but the community as a whole.Fortunately or Unfortunately,Ijjat(honour)is the most valuable possession of most of Indians. So this measure of hiking TRP rating has grave repercussions for many. These nitty gritty are understood by few and as the public would come to know, they would feel cheated and resort to protest .They can become violent too,as the Star News experienced recently. The bigger danger is loosing the credibility.

Everybody knows that The Railway minister Lalu Prashad Yadav, was in Patna while the budget was being prepared. He had been campaigning for many days.He might not be knowing anything at all about the plans and policies formulated by his OSD.Still he is credited with transforming the Railway.

No news network has taken the pain to check, afterall what measures he took that brought transformation. And has any governmental measures in our country's history has yielded such quick result. But,the media needs his byte and advertisement too.So whats the need to cross check and analyse the facts.

He(Lalu) is the same person who took bihar into dark age, literally. He just did nothing apart from regaling media and keeping his MY combination intact. The then Bihar Govt. had decided that any scheme- plan-project above the cost of 35 lacks would be cleared in the cabinet meeting. And the cabinet meeting never took place and whenever that took place it would end after a sobering sermon from Lalu. So,during his fifteen years of misrule, whatever infrastructure was there, got destroyed and every educated person was forced to migrate.

Media is doing great disservice to this country.Instead of exposing lapses and malpractices,it has started playing to the gallery.Everybody knows that Manohar Kahania,Madhur Kathayen, have astonishing circulation.Electronic media is aping them blindly. Will this Circus stop?

Welcom ! into the Credit Web.

April 19th 2007 14:32
Credit Card was one thing which i also wanted as most of my friend had.My Country,India had recently opened up its economy and there were very few Banks offering these pastic cards. As i had moved to a new town with no permanent addrees, the Banks would decline my application. After two years a guy approached and insisted to fill one form and after fifteen days i had my first card in my pocket.Since my friends had many so i also started aquairing more and after one year i had seven Cards in my wallet.
As i was not married then and had not any major expenditure to take care,i would foot the bills without realising what i was doing.I was unaware of financial discipline so i kept splurging. Impulse buying was the in thing, and i bought several things which were of no use after some time.Unfortunatelly i lost my job.And to keep footing the Bills i started withdrwing the cash too.Soon,i was out of cash.Perhaps The Bank got wind of it and offered a pre approved personal loan, which i availed.Without realising,i had fallen into debt trap.
I married and settled down and planned to wriggle out myself from this condition. It took me three years to wipe out my debt after paying almost four times the money i had actually used
