March 8th 2010 04:32

HOW TO GET AN EDUCATIONAL LOAN?

A large Number of students feel handicapped for accessing the higher avenues of education particularly the professional courses on account of the high costs involved at the admission stage and the recurring annual fees. While the government does tries to help through its scholarships, the numbers are not enough to meet the requirements of all the deserving and talented students. Under these circums-tances, the facility of educational loans being advanced by the banks
comes.

Government of India in consultation with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Indian Banker’s Association (IBA) has framed a Comprehensive Educational Loan Scheme to ensure that no deserving student in the Country is deprived of higher education for want of finances. The new scheme covers all type of courses including professional courses in schools and colleges in India and abroad.

Sonia Gandhi is right in her assessment that there is tremendous goodwill for the Congress Party among all strata of the people but that is not translated into votes during elections. She however did not mention the reasons behind this and what she proposed to do to convince the electorate to trust her leadership. The biggest reason for the disenchantment among voters is her party's ambiguous stand concerning the day to day lives of the common people. There is great pessimism among the lower middle class now with this present government because whenever it is in power, inflation flares up and living cost goes up considerably. It might be mere coincidence but how come a flat costing around ten lakhs earlier commands around 40 lakhs now? Can any government servant or middle income class person afford that kind of money?Even the secretary level officers of the government of India would not be able get the corresponding loan to finance it .However,it is altogether a different matter that for many such officers that kind of sum is mere a pittance of what they have accumulated through their ingenious ways.

An average person drawing average salary could manage to move into his dream home before this government came into power. What happened in the last two years that the builders prevailed over the common people and drove them away to make room for the Noveau Rich? Had the government been sensitive enough, the situation would have been brought under control then and there.

This is not merely a case of excess demand and less supply. The brazenness of this whole conspiracy is that even a Ghaziabad property costs more than a sub urban London or Atlanta property.Clearly, the Stock Market tricks are being employed in the real estate sector also and as usual the victims are the hapless end users who buy homes for their personal dwelling.Traders would have flown and thousands of brokers would have changed their companies' name plates by the time the nefarious nexus and scam is unearthed.A government concerned for the welfare of its common people would never let this happen.Address this problem firmly and the people will respond positively.

How can the Congress get absolute majority without a major contribution from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh? Bihar was given on a platter to the BJP-JDU combine. In order to wrest political advantages, congress became a part and parcel of the government which took the state into medieval age.The party did not listen to its dedicated workers and local leaders and kept supporting the government for very illusory secular reasons. But,Secular sloganeering only ensured Lalu Prasad Yadav a large chunk of votes leaving congress high and dry.Congress failed its committed supporters when they were desperate for assistance ; disenchanted they were forced to switch their loyalty. That segment has put its weight behind JDU-BJP combine now. There is no scope for the congress in UP as well.

Congress leadership need to understand that the age of "masala" politics is gone and people cutting across class, creed and religion are looking for genuine efforts to address their problem.Formulate people oriented policy and there would be shrunk political space for BJP and other parties.Similarly, keep harping on an invisible danger and go into oblivion as the people have became smart enough to distinguish between doers and preachers.Congress affiliated organisations put up special camps during the admission time in Delhi Universitto help the new entrants. Can this be replicated in every Block of India,to facilitate poor and illiterate people to get enlisted to benefit from the various ongoing schemes like rural employment guarantee scheme? This simple gesture might catapult the party way ahead of others. The question is whether anybody is listening?

Third Front Set To Be Revived !

November 14th 2007 06:11
The communist parties, CPI(M) and CPI, formally revived their efforts to create the ‘Third front’ to isolate the UPA, especially the Congress. Left leaders have been holding a series of meetings with parties like the Telegu Desam and Samajwadi Party. It is no more a secret that there are some deep personal breaches between the Gandhi family and the Samajwadi Party leadership, including Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh. The Communists are optimistic about forging an alliance with the UNPA in the next Lok Sabha elections.Om Prakash Chautala’s INLD has already conveyed to UNPA leaders that it is interested in joining this bandwagon. But National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah is keeping his options open. The Congress is not amused to see the Left cosying up to SP and TDP, its arch rivals in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.

After being ejected from the post of Chief minister of UP and remaining in oblivion for all these months, the spring is back on the feet of Mulayam-Amar duo.Mulayam Singh Yadav has been elected chairman of the United National Front which includes the Left Parties also now.Chandrababu Naidu will be the coordinator whereas Amar Singh will provide fodder to the press. The Front had come into existence to fight the excesses of the ruling coalition that included left Parties also and while it was being given shape, these very leftists were smiling as sadists. They were not willing to even recognize its existence and the resultant influence of any such formation. They have eaten their words now and have sought the verbose umbrella of Amar Singh, fearing not so clean political weather after the election Monsoon is over.

The omnipresent General Secretary of Samajwadi Party,Amar Singh was able to bring Jaylalitha into the centre stage of national politics a few months back. Then Amar Singh was furious because his conversations on phone were being monitored and recorded ,allegedly on behest of the central government. Jaylalitha was persuaded to become the chairperson of the newly formed alliance, which was viewed as the first step towards the formation of a third front.Left Parties then were acting as the extension of Congress and concurred with them on various issues that also included political strategy in different states. They went to the extent of threatning Ram Vilas Paswan and kept ridiculing Samajwadi Party all this while. Much water has flown under the bridge since then. Now, once hostile Mr.Vardhan is cozying up with Mulayam Singh Yadav and has made him the chairman of the front. Being a staunch believer in the Politics of convenience,Amar Singh has clarified that Left is much more important for them than Miss Jayalalitha.

Left Parties enjoyed enormous clout in the government and tried to rule it by proxy on some pretext or the other. They were determining the political course of action of the ruling alliance and used to be uncharitable towards those who tried to deviate, even at the state level. Surprisingly these leftists had set another rule for themselves whereby they were free to pursue independent policy in the states .In this context the humiliation of Ram Vilas Paswan is as much unjustified as the doubt over the secular credential of Mulayam-Amar duo.

Congress finds itself in a precarious condition now as its allies like DMK,RJD and NCP are also not exactly the all weather friends and they can go in the direction of the wind.Weather prediction methodology is not absolutely correct yet ,so they are playing the waiting game for a while.Time to come up with an alternate strategy for Congress now !!!

Violence In Nandigram

November 13th 2007 05:06
Mikhail Gorbachev had initiated Perestroika and Glasnost more than a decade back which resulted in the fragmentation of the erstwhile USSR.Many countries realised after decades of experimentation that Karl Marks and his Utopian ideals were non implementable so ,most of the east European countries dumped it and started to rebuild themselves in the unipolar world. Some countries like Cuba,Venezuela and China however did not jettison the concept completely and adopted Capitalism with a Communist face. Indian communists on the other hand remained static in their thought and kept preaching and practising the same old ideas until Buddhdeva Bhattacharya tried perestroika like experiment in West Bengal.Mr.Bhattacharya, realizing the hollowness of the mere "lofty ideals", tried to ape the pragmatic approach of Chinese communists but, unfortunately, his moves seem to have boomeranged and after the Nandigram violence, he stands aloof , alone, dejected, condemned, and belittled.But,Mr.Bhattacharya has also won the admiration of thousands of people for his courage and conviction. The landscape of Calcutta has changed since he took over and the day is not far when the city would regain its lost glory of being the 'cultural and intellectual capital' of India.

The news emanating from Nandigram is horrifying; armed comrades forcibly evicting the opposition political workers from their base; taking over the role of policing and patrolling of the vast area; blocking media persons from entering the area; obstructing even the deployment of the Central Reserve Police and indulging in mayhem, violence, arson and murderous activities. These facts have opened the Pandora's box and soon other methods employed by Left Parties to maintain their stronghold will be scrutinised and many startling facts would be revealed to expose the Communists which might lead to the extinction of their current process and methodologies

Its a week now when HongKong Bank or HSBC India hired goons threatened to kill and abduct the kid of a loyal customer was brought into the notice of the Bank Authorities. But typical to the Bankers they are not ready to mend their ways by identifying the said culprit and trying to discipline him in accordance with the law of the land.Perhaps they don’t act until the threat is actually translated into some ghastly act.

HSBC officials initially denied that they had any collection centre at Noida,UP,where the known thugs and goons or anybody who wants to earn bucks muscling the hapless customers are contracted or Employed. This outright denial can be proved from the telephone numbers location and the duration of the calls. The details can be obtained from the MTNL ,if the court ask them to prodide them.

75 % of road accidents in the country are owed to the 7% of the city roads. Road rage is a common occurrence in Delhi, infact so common that the common man fails to stand up and take notice, the media fails to draw detailed debate on the issue and the government is still wrapped up in its insensitive slumber.

Journalism in Decline

April 21st 2007 10:11
The Electronic Media has just become a circus. It just does not follow any Journalistic ethics. As long as the general viewer are not aware of the process, they consume whatever is beamed into their home. But,once they find out that the stories are manufactured, and dramatised to enhance effect, they will get enraged certainly.

A boy and a girl goes to one TV channel explaining that they eloped and fear for their lives. The channel without realising the sensitivity of the matter takes high moral ground,as if they operate from Atlanta, weaves a Juicy story around them,construct,re-construct the story in do cu-drama style and start beaming full throat. The couple are parroted appropriate bytes and these package keep running whole day.Sometime many days continuously. It (Channel)is never concerned and sensitive enough of its own act.It forgets that we are still a very conservative society and its radical reformist action might affect not only the Couples 'family, but the community as a whole.Fortunately or Unfortunately,Ijjat(honour)is the most valuable possession of most of Indians. So this measure of hiking TRP rating has grave repercussions for many. These nitty gritty are understood by few and as the public would come to know, they would feel cheated and resort to protest .They can become violent too,as the Star News experienced recently. The bigger danger is loosing the credibility
