New Podcasts

January 16th 2010 22:51
My business partner and I started doing a weekly podcast on our experience with web development, online marketing and general entrepreneurial pursuits. So we started another blog to house the podcast.

There is very little on the site at this time, but here is a excerpt from a recent post on Knowing Your Faults

I hate to be put into a box. Being categorized, labeled and predefined , not my thing. Which is precisely what every personality profile I have ever taken says.

I thrive on change, and solving problems. I love to look at products and try to make them better, to look at a process and make it more efficient or a challenge and find the solution.

Innovator, Inventor, these are words I like to self ascribe. And most people would agree. Nothing wrong with that, right?

So am I Mr. Wonderful, perfect? NO, in-fact I am far from it.

Monster HEADS!

December 11th 2009 19:52

New, quick, sketches. Both of them are just heads… I’m thinking it might be time to do a collage of sorts, with a bunch of creature heads on pikes.

I’ve been so incredibly busy between Savvy-U, Innovocus and Janos that I have not been sketching… SUCK!

So, while on the biweekly Janos conference call, I sketched in my note pages. The conversation was great, there are many wonderful things happening with Janos, but I needed to sketch!

This first guy here needs a sword, a bandanna and a salty growl to his voice and he’d go a plunderin with the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Or maybe he is a minion of Cthulhu… It is so hard to distinguish from the various tentacled monsters, demons and demi-gods. After awhile they all just start to look like each other.

The second dude here is a demon with either stubby or broken horns. he also seems to have a rather painful kink in his neck. Must be hell!

I am hopeful that I will be able to sit down and do a few pages of sketches tonight. I have a few ideas in my head I’d like to get down, and it is the begining of the weekend after all.

And While I’m dreaming, maybe this cold will also go away…

Comic Femme Fatal

November 28th 2009 02:12
She is an unnamed heroine of my own creation.
Femme Fatal Comic

Loosely based on Macavite’s character Merideth, I drew her in a series of sketches while Shane Nitzsche was staying with us. Shane did me the honor of inking her.

She is obviously very worldly and would not hesitate to rip your head off, literally. I have not named her yet, and am looking for suggestions.

I’ve got a few more characters that I am inking currently, and I am also painting the first cover for “Janos”.

At this point I should suggest you check out my personal blog, sketchbook and portfolio website c-hammer.com. I recently posted about the Janos project and have more detail on this image on my website.

Still much more to show. I am currently working on a series of characters and the cover of the first issue of "Janos".

So You Want To Be A Blogger?

November 22nd 2009 21:20
It can be a dream come true, but just like any dream made reality it takes more than desire, it takes hard work.

Recently I have been asked to create a series of E-Learning courses on SEO, web promotion/marketing and blogging for Savvy-U.com. None are live yet, still in development but they are coming soon. While scripting this series of courses I came to a realization, Blogging as a job is no different than any other business. I think too many people see blogging as a dream job, of working an hour a day promoting themselves as some sort of minor celebrity with riches and fame only a short effortless step away. All you need to do is build a blog and the rest will come

So Sorry! I Suck!

November 22nd 2009 20:25
There is quite a bit going on in Casa De Hammer. Rather than go into a rather boring diatribe of whoa and heartache, which benefits no-one, let me instead spread the joy of positive happenings.

Savvy-U.com has made some very large strides forward, and I will likely be working it full time in the near future. We are currently in negotiations with 2 multi-billion dollar companies and a 3rd company that does DOE contract work. Savvy U will provide the training for new staff and professional certification continued education credits. These are all big deals, and can really get the company rolling. If any of them happen I will be 40 hours a week from home on this company, and we will be looking for Multimedia people, animators etc

Abject Failure

October 5th 2009 18:27
Failure is a mindset, and in my opinion it is the common one held by the vast majority of people. I often find myself looking at the negative aspects of a change, event or individual. This looking at the negative is exactly what I am talking about. Looking for the negative is looking for failure.

If you dwell on the faults of anything it becomes difficult if not impossible to see the way to success. this can be in relationships, business or even in planning for the future

Multicampers Comic Strip

October 5th 2009 17:59
So far it is a work in progress as Soup and I work through the characters, story lines and look of the comic. But there are currently a few strips up at The Funniez.

So out of the gate Multicampers is the adventures of a group of airsoft fanatics in their battle to cope with reality and conquer an imaginary world of camouflage and military simulation. However today we decided that it will pour out into a much broader range of topics including Geocacheing, mountaineering, and general outdoorsy topics

Blob, Creature Painting

September 23rd 2009 22:25
Blob Creature
Another creature painting, this time an angry blobulous monster. I have been quite busy recently with freelance work, but am always looking for more. This particular image is one of several I am creating. It is perhaps less dynamic than it should be, and the camera angle is my typical 6 foot perspective. Regardless I had tons of fun creating this image, and now look forward to the next one, which will be far more dynamic. I already have many ideas to make this image better, and someday hopefully I will have the free time and desire to go back at it. For now it is as it will be.

Goblin Joust Update

September 15th 2009 17:36

All of a sudden I find myself swamped with freelance work. it seems to come in waves like most things. So, rather than go into those boring details... Though they are actually quite exciting, I thought I'd show the updates made to this painting.

Success as a Mindset

August 20th 2009 18:01
"Never say die!" To say these are words to live by, feels cheesy. However, there are two strong reasons that it is precisely what you should do.

First, to never view any situation as hopeless, is wise indeed. Once you dispair, you have given away all chance of recovery. You have given up. You can never, ever allow yourself to surrender hope

Natalina,
The sad eyes were some what intentional. I start my sketching sessions with nothing in mind and just start drawing shapes, squigles and lines. Then I just start to see things in the chaos. But as I add detail and spend time n the drawings things solidify in my mind. Her eyes just looked sad to me as I was doing it.

Thanks Norm, I spent just a few more minutes on these, than I normally would, and I think it made all of the difference.

Norm, love Ray Hughes's stuff. Detail, inside of detail. And now you've got me started on a tangent. Aliens and accesories.

Kleonaptra - thanks for coming in, I love the idea of adding quotes.

Oddly, no it is Alias Sketchbook, but used the airbrush tool to do much of the shading.

Yep it is tweety again!

Norm, you are thinking of Lee Harvey Oswald. I might use the idea. Need to do some sketches...

Morgan, possibly, though I doubt it never thought much of the King of Pop. More likely Humphry Bogart, or any of the old rat packers.
