Milwaukee Brewers 2009 Organization Evaluation

Kendall is on his way out and Salome should be ready to step in next season. As for the long-term, Lawrie is very young and needs to learn the catcher position, but he will be a valuable slugger.
Fielder is a stud at the plate and is protected for three more years. If only Rickie Weeks could stay healthy for an extended period of time, he would be one of the better second baseman in the majors. While Hall is a decent utility player, he's 29-years-old, coming off of a .293 OBP in 2008, and has only one standout year under his belt. Mat Gamel can hit, but his defense is too terrible to play at 3B. Conversely, McGehee can field, but has had no offensive production whatsoever until this season. Counsell should be gone after this season, and the currently struggling J.J. Hardy should be an above-average SS through his peak years. Alcides Escobar may be the long-term answer at short.
Braun, like Fielder, is a stud at the plate. The Brewers signed him to a bargain deal through 2015. Cameron is a solid veteran on the final year of his deal. Lorenzo Cain could be starting for the Brewers next season, but don't expect too much out of him. Jody Gerut had somewhat of a breakout in 2008, but has struggled mightily this season. In rightfield, Corey Hart had a tremendous 2007 season, but he has been just an average player outside of that year.
As long as Gallardo stays healthy, he is going to be an ace for many years to come. Dave Bush needs to keep his strikeouts up and walks down. Chris Capuano can hopefully return strong from TJS. Parra has tons of talent but control problems have him off to a slow start in '09.
As can be seen, there is a ton of talent in the Brewers bullpen.
