Mexican Prices

I was talking to another driver on my cb last night. He just got back from a trip to Mexico and was fit to be tied. Fuel is so much cheaper there than it is on this side of the border but he wasn't allowed to buy any. So how does that work? How come theirs is cheaper than ours? Dont we buy a lot of oil from them? Is it really that expensive to bring across the border? Is theirs inferior? Poor quality? Then why do we buy it?
Maybe I dont understand international business, but I do know that we shouldnt be paying so much more than we used to. Or so much more than they pay in Mexico. Im getting sick of hearing how Obamma doesnt want us to drill or build refineries because itll take awhile before we see any of our own oil from it. He wants us to use wind and sunshine for power instead of oil. What an idiot! Does he really think my truck will bring his damn groceries to the store on wind and sunshine tomorrow?
