Menu Sections
June 23rd 2006 00:32
You can insert text and links into your blog's menu by creating posts with the following titles:
Top Menu Section
Middle Menu Section
Bottom Menu Section
The content of the posts will be displayed in your blog's menu at the top, middle, or bottom. Be sure not to include pictures in these posts as this may upset the formatting. You will also need to explicitly left-justify the content of the post or it will be centered. You should also set the display time of each post to a long time ago so that they do not appear on the Orble homepage or your blog's homepage.
The Short Title field of the post will be used as the title of the menu section.

Writer's Notes
[Update: I've figured out this problem since posting the questions below. The reason I wasn't finding the two "Top Menu Posts" was because I'd set the date so far back, as you'd recommended, and I'd been expecting them to show up as my latest posts. I then noticed these posts in the middle of my list of blog posts next to my blog and figured it out from there. Sorry to take up so much space on a problem that's already been resolved! But maybe it will help someone else to avoid the mistakes that I made before I figured it out! Though I now feel my mistakes were so foolish that you'd probably be doing your readers a favor by deleting this post (as I already tried to do, but your software wouldn't let me.)]
I've followed your advice and created a menu section called "Other Helpful Sites for Writers." I put a link to one site into this list. All well and good--but I can't figure out how to add other sites to my list. I can find no way to go back in and modify the original post. It's not listed in my Control Panel, and there's no "Modify" button on the post to allow me to change it in order to add to it. I'm stumped!
I also made the mistake of creating a second post of the same name and with the same Short Title, hoping that that would cause the new link to be appended to the list, since both posts had the same title--but no luck! This one isn't showing up anywhere except in my blog post field (and the "Previous" and "Next" sections beneath it.) Please help!
I have noticed that, since moving to my new domain, my blog no longer has a "Modify" option located above my posts, and I must always go to my Control Panel to modify my posts. (Of course, in this case, that doesn't work, because these posts aren't listed there.)
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
Jeanne

If you put this link code between HTML tags
<
<a href="LINKURL">LINKTEXT</a>
it should work.
The HTML tags are described HERE
Let me know if you have any problems.

And if I add more, it just puts more lines at the bottom.

Replace the smiley with a d -- and at the end you need to put </div> which for some reason has disappeared.
So
<
<a href="LINKURL">LINKTEXT</a>
</div>

The line will go across the whole post, but when it's in the menu it will look like the rest.
