Men who don't buy drinks

Am I old fashioned? Am I totally out of sync with modern day man/woman rituals? Am I expecting too much when I assume that a man should offer to buy a female a drink if he wants to show that he likes her?
I just want to get this off my chest. If a man won't buy me a drink while he is talking to me at a bar then I assume he is not interested. If he doesn't want to spend $7 on a drink, how on earth will he give me anything else? And when I say "give", I am talking about giving affection or attention or love...I don't mean material things.
Funnily enough, though, I judge men by the first impression they give me when it comes to simple things like money. I dislike when they are tight with their money...because that means they will be tight in other areas of their life.
Last Friday night, I walked away from a guy who bought himself a drink but disregarded both my friend and me by not bothering to ask us if we wanted one even though we had chatted for a while and he had asked us to go the bar with him...Oh, my gosh! We are in our thirties, we can afford one drink. For me it was a no brainer, I had to leave him standing at the bar.
What about the guy a few months back, who came up to me with the one liner after he saw me sipping on a lush cocktail, "I see you are enjoying a great cocktail. You must try a French Martini." Then he proceeded to talk about the drink for ten minutes without bothering to close the deal - like offering to buy me the drink if it's that great!
Women talk about men being simple. Sometimes women are simple too. We want a drink if you're talking to us at a bar - especially if you like us. Buying us a drink is a simple sign that you like us! I can't even believe that I have to blog this to get the message across but I think Sydney is spawning too many up-themselves men who won't part with ten bucks to buy anything for anyone.
Or are men just plain scared of offering to buy us a drink? What are you scared of? Forget the feminist crap...we do want to be treated like a lady. Watch an episode of Ladette to Lady and you'll see that even the most lad-like, tomboy female wants to be treated beautifully. Buying women stuff or saying nice things or doing something for us equates in our minds to being treated beautifully.
