Melbourne - Carlton Garden's Hochgurtel Fountain
April 30th 2011 07:00
I find it rare to see such a magnificent structure in Australia. Maybe I need to get out more. There’s something about this fountain that makes me go, “wow, now that’s a fountain!”
Maybe what captures me are the mix of textures; smooth, rough, jagged and rounded, or how every detail represents something significant to the city’s history.
Maybe it’s the way the sun hits the water and turns it into a pixie wonderland: a place where mer-people rise from the wake while youths dance in a circle above; where creatures of the land and sea spout water in this haven of rainbows and the wind sprinkles the spray across the flourishing gardens.
Whatever it is, it’s well worth a look.
