It was a sunny day in a small town where I grew up, and I was six years old. My brother and I where playing in our front yard when we spotted an orange tabby cat walking back and forth on the rock wall that separated our house from a large lot next door that held an old mansion and barn that had been abandoned for over a hundred years. This orange tabby looked very distraught. It kept crying and mewing loudly at us. When we tried to catch the cat it ran off towards the barn, and my brother and I followed after it. When we got to the barn and stepped inside, we saw an old man above us on the second floor platform, he was sitting in a wheelchair. There were cats all around him and he was holding a rope in his hand, it was a noose. We watched in horror as he looped the rope around a cat's neck and hung the cat over one of the rafters above. I screamed at him to stop when I realized his form was hazy, and under closer inspection, see-through. When I was a young girl, I notice something strange about me, I learned that when I touched someone's hand I could tell what they where going to die of. I could see the sickness in my mind, feel and hear their heart beating. It scared me. When I was a little girl, the people I knew were going to die would end up dieing, and afterward I would feel bad because I had known moments before that they where going to die, but did not know how to tell them or use my gift to help them. As I got older, my ability to control and understand my gift became stronger. I met a man in an art store one day and I changed his life and mine...
