Mary Flunks

February 23rd 2012 04:18
Mary walked out of the house. Her mind was hot and hard. Her parents had wanted to yell at her for having had flunked her last year of school so disastrously. She had heat on her face. Her dad had collected the mail early, and they had set the celebration cake on fire. Mary hated the fact that they had opened her mail. She glared at the road ahead, and she began to march. She marched two blocks to her boyfriends house, and immediately she saw he was having a party!

Her boyfriend smiled as he opened the door. There were balloons everywhere! The party was big! It was huge! There were eighty people in the house, and music pumped. Mary smiled as she was given a drink, and then she stiffly stood as her boyfriend was offered the microphone.

“Thanks everyone for coming to by celebration party” he muttered. “Graduation is a big bonus, but to graduate and get into the ideal college is massive;” he said.

The crowd cheered, and he smiled. He was clearly a little drunk and on a high. Mary smiled as she looked to him, and then she began to grow an itch. She had failed.

“No doubt I'll be tackling the higher studies with the best;” he muttered before he winked at Angie who was the senior voted most popular.

Mary grew disgusted over the wink! He was supposed to wink at her! Who was she? Why didn't she get a wink? Why didn't she get an invitation? The answer was simple 'she wasn't supposed to be there!” Mary scoffed and walked out of the house.

Mary walked down the street. It took five minutes to get to the corner store, and she brought herself a drink and an ice-cream. She gobbled down both. The night was hot, very hot, and having had walked so far only made it ever more hot. Mary scowled as she walked further down the street. Eventually she came to her friend Jan's house!

Mary knocked on the door, and she was let inside. Jan was having a dinner, and she smiled as she saw Mary. She picked up her plate and walked to Mary, then she invited her up to her room. Mary followed. She was glad to have found a friend. It was the loveliest sensation after such a let down.

“I am so glad you came!” gasped Jan. “How'd you go?” she questioned.

“I didn't do well;” muttered Mary.

“No way! That makes two of us!” gasped Jan. “I only just scraped for a place in the Edwardian School in some remoter region of New Zealand!” she muttered.

“Really?” asked Mary.

“Yeah, I am doing some trash study that has to do with the measuring of the volcano;” Jan muttered.

“That will be good;” told Mary.

“Maybe, but I have to board;” told Jan. “And that place is known for disastrous weather;” she added.

“I guess;” told Mary as she shrugged. “I flopped, no degree for me;” she muttered.

“That's no good!” told Jan. “So what will you do? Get married?” she asked.

“Not to my boyfriend!” gasped Mary. “He has got a hot eye for someone else;” she mouthed.

“That's no good;” told Jan. “If you want a reliable web-site I can give you the details of one; she muttered.

“Okay; sighed Mary as she smiled bashfully. “However I don't know if I want marriage to be the next step;” she outlined.

“Why not? You skip working and grow up fast!” exclaimed Jan as she smiled.

“I guess;” muttered Mary as she rested on the idea. “But I really don't know anyone;” she said.

“Well you will;” told Jan as she smiled and wrote down a few website addresses. “These are great! All great guys with money!” she exclaimed. “I have dated five and feel fine;” she smiled before she passed Mary the pad of paper.

“Thanks;” told Mary as she smiled and then slipped the item into her pocket.

“So, want to watch movies with me tonight?” asked Jan as she smiled.

“Sure;” said Mary as she grinned.

“Great because I got a heap I need to watch!” told Jan. “With you here I won't fall asleep;” she added. “We can play a board game while it plays;”

“That will be good;” said Mary as she began to relax. “I could use with some entertainment;” she added.

“So could I - next week I am sailing off!” gasped Jan as she looked at the DVD's. “No more together;” she muttered.

“That will be horrible;” told Mary. “I will miss you;” she said.

“So will I;” muttered Jan. “Make sure you e-mail me every day;” she said. “And send presents on my birthday!” she gasped. “You know the chocolate I like;”

“No problem;” smiled Mary as she sat on the bed. “You just come to my wedding;” she muttered as she grew a chill.

“No problem!” told Jan before she brought over the board game they were yet to play. “Now let's put on a movie and rumble!” she said.

“Okay;” smiled Mary as she grabbed the game and helped set it out.
