What Happened?
So, I went to the doctor's about the pain I'm in...I wanted to have my thyroid tested, which I'm waiting for the results. When I got on the scale, I couldn't believe that I had put on almost 30 pds in less than 2 months.
I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis which can cause my weight to go up or down. Well, it's up. And it doesn't matter how I eat, I do exercise, and living on the 3rd floor, I get plenty of a workout there.
And hitting the age of 52 soon, I know there's alot of baggage that comes with age. But, the problems I deal with as well as the constant pain is very, very draining.
I had been doing better for awhile, but suddenly feel like I'm going in reverse. I don't want that to happen. With the holidays coming up, I want to have real family time. And a grandchild due in Feb, the 5th one, I want to be able to enjoy time with this new baby and my other grandkids.
I am watching closely what I eat, stress and how I deal with it, keeping myself hydrated, taking quiet time, resting when I need to and exercise.
I love life and am determined to make the most of it.
I was looking up news stories about migraine disease and found a story about a woman who was 7 months pregnant who died....was told she had a pinched nerve after going for medical help...even though her mother died of an aneurysm.
Doesn't matter where it was, Canada, the U.S. has the same sad attitude. I'm thinking it's because most migraine sufferers are women and of course women like to "be dramatic" , want attention, aren't tough like men.
This story makes me sick, it worries me as my youngest daughter is pregnant and gets really bad headaches. I will speak to her and her boyfriend about this and most likely her dr. I want them to take it seriously when she goes to the er. She has been once already, in severe pain and recently had problems breathing along with the pain.
It is long past time for Migraine Disease to be treated seriously. What, ya think someone who has never been a drug seeker, is taking good care of herself is pregnant is what, a drug seeker.
Get a grip!! Wake the medical community up!!

Easing the Pain
This is the time of year that it really starts for me...relying on coping skills. The weather changes make my pain level go up like crazy. My energy gets depleted so much just dealing with the pain.
Then there's the added stress of upcoming holidays..wanting to be a part of it all...feeling guilt if you can't participate the way you hope and fighting depression of missing out.
I make sure I have my comfort items handy. My fav throws, pillows, sound machine..meds. Also, my new fav is my bedbuddy mask that I picked up from Walmart. I can't tell you the difference it's made in my sleep. And if I just need to rest, no light to worry about. I can also heat it if I want to place it on my forehead.
I'll keep putting suggestions here over the next months that I hope will help!

I get bloodwork done every months because of a thyroid problem. They say I'm ok,but there's debates about accuracy of tests.
I've been going thru this for so long, that I do go back and try things again. What didn't work before, may work now.
I just went thru the cleansing/detoxing your body.I feel even tho it didn't get rid of migraine,I will do it every 4 months.I think it's healthy.
For me,I want to go into the hospital long enuf to be on an iv to find the combo of med to stop the pain.I've done tons of reading & been on alot of forums...I feel something's triggered the pain signal in my brain, they have to find something to stop it.
I had insurance,I no longer do,thanks to the insurance co saying my thyroid was pre-existing(after getting treatment for 1yr)So,I lost all my drs. Now,it's progressed to chronic migraine. And w/out ins, can't qualify for medicaid, here I am.
Thanks for the suggestion....
