Aguilera: What So Proudly We Watch

I knew I heard something wrong on the TV behind me. Christina Aguilera screwed up the National Anthem at the Super Bowl ... what a disgrace!

No More Christmas for Veterans?

December 16th 2010 17:10
No more Christmas, not even Santa Claus, at the Chillicothe VA.

When is someone going to cry foul and realize that this country being so politically correct has finally gone too far? One veteran shares his views.

The VA Kills Santa Claus

I didn't write the article, but I could have. I'm a veteran, and I do receive care at my local VA in Chillicothe, Ohio and this really fires me up. The fact that staff cannot even utter the words Merry Christmas to another person on the VA grounds is bad enough, but now they've taken away all reference to Christmas at the facility entirely, even Santa Claus.

Where will it stop?

Clean the Green and Natural Way

December 7th 2010 02:55
I hate using personal care, laundry and cleaning products that are loaded with perfumes and harmful chemicals, but equally hate paying the higher prices of some of the so-called green and environmentally friendly cleaners. I was pleasantly surprised to see some of the things that Lyn Lomasi shared in Naturally Greener Ways to Sanitize Your Bathroom.

gas mask, chemical cleaners

I use vinegar a lot for general cleaning and deodorizing and use some products containing tea-tree oil from a well-known company, but I never would have thought of herbs for cleaning and disinfecting. See Lyn's article for good scoop on ridding your home of harmful cleaning products.

Everyone loves a white Christmas, but thinking eco-friendly can mean saving green rather than spending it this holiday season.

The Christmas holiday is traditionally a season of big ... lights and decorations mean a bigger electric bill. Costly gifts scream for equally expensive wrapping. All too soon the excitement is over and you're left with a pile of trash

Free Cable Stitch Hat and Scarf Pattern

December 4th 2010 14:47
I love finding pretty crochet stitches and writing up simple hat and scarf patterns to make from them to share with my crafting friends. This hat and scarf were made with a simple cable stitch, and although it isn't like the knit cable, it's still pretty and can be used for lots of projects. I plan on amending the scarf pattern on a larger scale to make an afghan.

Favorite Crochet Stitch

December 1st 2010 13:25
My favorite crochet stitch is very easy to do and can be used for a multitude of projects. It simply consists of a SC and DC in the same stitch, and skip one stitch in between. Told you it was simple!

I make scarves, hats, baby blankets, afghans - you name it - with this crochet stitch

Trick or treat for Halloween is still a big hit with young and old alike, but many are now hosting Halloween or Harvest parties at home or church as an alternative. Do you need help coming up with food and games for all the ghouls and goblins?

Halloween Party Games and Activities is a great place to start for game ideas for the festivities. Some are games we all remember playing as a child, but with a few twists for Halloween or harvest time. With a bit of inspiration, I'm sure you can come up with more of your own

How to Join Granny Squares With a Braid

October 27th 2010 11:18
Have you seen the flat braid join method of putting granny squares together? It was a life-saver for me!

I've been crocheting for years but for some reason it took me a while to master the basic granny square. No one had ever shown me how to crochet in rounds, and my squares always ended up off-kilter somehow

Yep, you heard it here (and no doubt dozens of other places online). Glenn Beck is a moron. Or at least he is if I can believe the scores of forum posts, Twitter tweets and Facebook status updates I've seen in the last few days.

I've yet to figure out what it is about Glenn Beck's actions of late in regards to the Restoring Honor Rally that is so offensive to so many. And the attacks on Dr Arveda King's character, suggesting - no, flat out saying - that she's a disgrace to her race and her uncle, MLK's dream? ... unbelievable

Love that bubble wrap! Those candles sound really neat. I can definitely see how the bubble wrap would give it that honeycomb look.

on The grey hair trend of 2010

August 22nd 2010 00:35
Well I guess I'm ahead of the trend, then. I got a double whammy since both of my parents grayed young, so I was fully gray in my 40s. I finally gave up on dying it and went au natural a couple of years ago. I'll never go back.

It's odd that they don't indicate how or when you're paid if an article is accepted.

I've posted on a forum where I write to see if anyone has more info. Will share if I get any good scoop.
