An Olympian with Dignity, Style & Grace

November 22nd 2010 01:19
Sadly for the world Anne has three brothers, because of the four children of Queen Elizabeth she is the one most suited to be the sovereign. She is the one sent to state funerals in place of the Queen (not Charles). She is involved with over 200 charities and last year attended 600 functions. She has been the President of Save the Children for as long as I can remember. However, my favorite tidbit is that in 1976 she was the first royal to ever be on an Olympic Team.

Here is a link to her Wikipedia page. The Princess Royal

Lucian Frued's painting of Sue Tilley that is titled "Benefits Supervisor Sleeping" sold to Roman Abramovich for 33.6 million dollars in May of 2008 at Christie's in New York. It is the highest amount ever paid for a painting by a living artist.

Lucian was born in Germany on December 8, 1922 and his family escaped the Nazi's and moved to England in 1933. He is the grandson of Sigmund Frued. He has painted for over 60 years and his subjects are his family and friends. He has been acclaimed as the most important artist of our time. I hope you will look at his paintings and find them as intriguing as I do.

Finish up the year brilliantly

November 7th 2010 16:26
This year flew by. I say this every year but this year flew faster than most. We still have sometime though to finish out this year in a stellar fashion.

Did you make resolutions last New Year's eve? Or do you not make them because you are afraid you can't live up to them? The past two years I made my resolutions a reality, and it felt so good come the end of the year. This year I'm not doing as well but I can still make it. Just need to keep my focus.

Whatever it is you want - take one small step each day or each week, and make it a reality. You are more capable than you realize and greater than you can imagine.

Cinematic Magician

November 7th 2010 15:35
I was in South Hampton, New York yesterday and who do I see walking down S. Main Street, but none other then Steven Spieberg. It got me thinking of all the wonderful movie and TV memories he has given us. He has been the movie mogul of my time, and I hope you enjoy this montage of his work.

He is definitely an old soul......enjoy

Tony Curtis - I'm Spartacus!

October 3rd 2010 21:25
Born in the Bronx in 1925, Bernard Schwartz, grew to become an American heart throb. I am very upset by the news of his death today. Some Like It Hot is # 1 of all time favorite American comedies. After his acting career waned he took to writing and painting.

RIP Tony

So many folks talk about Catholicism negatively, and then go on to talk about stuff the church actually supports as if the Catholic Church is their enemy. For example; the church's stance on UFO's and aliens.

Symphony of Science

September 26th 2010 13:26
Today I will feature Stephen Hawking a famous scientist whose principal areas of study are theoretical cosmology and quantum gravity. He is also the only person ever to outlive the the lifespan of his diagnosed illness which is ALS. I say that because he has had ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) for 45 years and the prognosis is usually ten years plus or minus. Odd isn't it?

Here is Professor Hawking's official website for anyone who wishes to get in contact or to learn more. Official Stephen Hawking Website

It is possible to stay positive even when all around you are your polar opposites. Negativity spreads like cancer, while positivity can seem to many like only a pipe dream. You can not make others see the light, but you can turn on the light within yourself for others to see.

When your light is on you are able to disconnect yourself more from other peoples harsh statements. A lot of times we are just a sounding board for someone who is angry and what they are saying really has nothing to do with us. Yet these kind of experiences can whittle away at self esteem causing yet another person to go full circuit on their energy grid. Don’t let people suck your positive energy away. Learn to distance yourself enough to try and understand what is going on. Once you can understand a person’s behavior the faster you are able to move past it

Life is Life - DJ Otzi

September 19th 2010 14:34
DJ Otzi is a man who has conquered so much in his very young life. He suffers from epilepsy, and has fought a battle with cancer. As a child he was raised in a foster home. These things may have hardened some lesser souls, but DJ comes at you with a kind of exuberance that is infectious and that just might be his gift to mankind.

It is almost impossible to listen to this video and not be moved to the point of wanting to dance in front of your computer by the time he gets to “I Will Survive

You have a great style, and I really like all your posts. You verbal imagery is as strong as your visual imagery. I was wondering which comes first, the picture or the words?

Actually, I am am American who has been going to the doctor for preventive maintenance for at least 14 years now. Everyone I know in New York goes to the doctor regularly. Only the unemployed or underemployed I know avoid their health care.

I have no problem communicating to the doctor - it hurts = fix it. Seems easy to me. Not sure what you were trying to communicate here?

on Man, she's way out of your league!

September 18th 2010 16:07
Great topic. I definitely have to say I can see "leagues" to a certain extent.

Your friend with the girl who left high school in tenth grade may have had a good reason to do that. Maybe her family needed the income and she did what she felt was the right thing to do. If that were the case I'd hold her in higher regard than someone who quit because they couldn't hack it. Just maybe she has the same kind of intellect as him, and he can help her flourish. Or perhaps your friend knows she will be true and he can trust her which is something no six figure salary can buy. You either have that or you don't. This kind of relationship can be good for you and therefore she would be in his league then, even if an outside observer thought not.

As for leagues with money as the focal point I'd say for me "no", but only because I live in New York and I've met people with money that are just down right horrid. You have to have something going on as a person to roll my socks down. Money and looks are tangibles that can be lost, whereas the wealth of a person can always be called upon.

I put people in leagues with regards to the whole package. Intelligence is probably most important, then humanity, and so on. The total sum of the person's parts is what I find important.
