Mamma Mia!

THIS week was always going to be about Belgian comeback queen Kim Clijsters.
But the 26-year-old guaranteed she had the world’s attention with a 6-4 6-3 win over last-start Stanford titlist Marion Bartoli in the first round of the Cincinnati Open.
The victory over the world No.13 Frenchwoman may not have quite silenced the doubters, but it certainly went some way to doing so.
Clijsters, who gave birth to her first daughter, Jada, last year, prefers to call her comeback a ‘second career’, but no-one will be able to separate one from the other.
The former world No.1 didn’t return to the tour for the money – she clearly feels she can still compete at the top level and wants to add further grand slam success to her 2005 US Open title.
Again, one win over Bartoli hardly proves she’s on her way to doing just that, but only a fool will rule the possibility out.
Erratic Swiss Patty Schnyder is next for Clijsters.
Clijsters leads Schnyder 5-2 in head-to-head match-ups, but don’t expect the contest to be a cakewalk.
Don’t even be surprised if Clijsters loses.
But this one victory may have ensured one thing at least: get used to seeing a hell of a lot more of her.
This ride isn’t going to end at the US Open.
