Mama uh, Mama uh, CSI-Style: IPod Recovery
January 20th 2007 04:09
SOMEWHERE OUT THERE, IN (AP)- The scene outside the Jr./ Sr. highschool today was chaos. Swat teams, Navy SEaLs, the FBI, and undercover agents canvassed the school in search of a stolen IPod.
Heading up the investigative...investigation was The Voices in my Head, a.k.a. Voices or 'Mama Uh, Mama Uh' to her friends.
"It was an exhaustive effort by everyone involved. We are happy to report that the target was brought to her knees in a whimpering, blubbering display," Voices said, "It was a good day."
When asked how many man hours had been put into the effort, Voices said, "About 18. We received word late last night of the theft, which occurred a week ago. Since the trail had gone cold, I took it upon myself to head up a 'small' effort."
That small effort included tracking information through Apple, the manufacturer of the stolen IPod, offering a reward for information leading to recovery, sending undercover agents in to shake down the thief, and calling in the police and the Principal of the school.
What's next for the target? A police investigation and small claims lawsuit are already underway. The thief and her family do have the option of a plea, in which the family will replace the stolen IPod due to damages incurred to it before recovery.
Damages include a loss of music previously downloaded, including purchased music, scratches to the display and massive scratches to the back panel and emotional suffering of the owner, who thought her mother was going to kill her.
At the time of this post, there has been no comment from the thief or their family.
SOMEWHERE OUT THERE, IN (AP)- Earlier tonight, in a shocking turnaround, the plea bargain offer made by Voices to the family of the thief was accepted.
The plea included the girl offering an apology for her actions, a brand new IPod to replace the damaged one, a gag order regarding future discussion by either party about the matter at school, and to drop charges, once the IPod is paid for.
Sources say that both parties are satisfied with the agreement and hope that it leads to valuable lessons learned for both young women.
In a sad turn, Voices was later taken to the looney bin after it was discovered that her daughter, upon getting a new combination for her school locker, wrote down the combination in her notebook, after Voices had specifically requested her daughter not do that ever again.
It is suspected that the notebook may have contributed to the crime because it contained the locker combination prior to the theft and was passed around within Voices' daughter's circle of friends to sign, and the thief may have seen the combination, or various parts of it.
Voices is expected to make a full recovery. Her daughter, on the other hand, is now in solitary confinement.

Yes. And it will take 6 weeks for the girl to pay us for the IPod. Until she does, I am not touching the IPod because it has her name in it and all that, which means it will be that long before my daughter can have her IPod back. Maybe that will give her enough time to think about listening like she should. This is very unlike my daughter but then again, she is turning 15 next month. Maybe her brains have left her head.
Come back,

We will see what the future holds...regardless, she is still a lovely person and I couldn't be more fortunate that she is my daughter. There are far worse things she could do. I just read of a 12 year old that set her mother's bed on fire while the mother was sleeping.
(weighing) My bed on fire....not listening to me.... Yeah, I am going to stick with what I have...lol She's not pregnant, having sex, doing drugs of any kind, smoking, drinking, sneaking out, cutting class, etc. So, in my opinion, we're good.

I was stunned and amazed that law enforcement had been brought in to settle a dispute between elementary school-aged students over merchandise that cost less than $10.00. It never would have happened when I was a kid. But, I'd rather see police peacefully settle disputes than to have the kids resorting to violence.

If the girl hadn't stolen something so expensive, and hadn't broken into her locker to do it, and then showed my daughter 'her new IPod' the same day that my daughter asked her if she had seen hers because it was missing, I wouldn't have contacted the police. This girl is obviously pretty comfortable with stealing and it needed to be nipped in the ass.
I have no tolerance for theft, regardless of who does it. Once, when my son was really small, he picked up a pack of Yu-ghi-Oh cards at a store and slipped it into his pocket while I watched him do it. He didn't know I could see him and I went to the cashier, told them what he did and asked them to scare the holy hell out of him. He has never done anything like that again.
Btw, the police weren't called to the school. I made a report afterwards. But that has been dismissed now because they paid for the IPod to be replaced.
I am glad your boys were found to be innocent. It's scary when accusations fly without merit. You don't know how far someone may take it before anything is proven.

Oh, I knew that! :c) I was just letting you know because I feel the same way. Police have enough to do without someone getting them involved over something so petty as a 10.00 item...especially since they obviously didn't know what they were talking about. lol
Come back, as always,
