Mad ravings from a lunatic at midnight - Power
December 10th 2008 16:35
Remember that game we played as kids called “King of the Castle”, the object was to make it to the top of the castle by climbing on and pushing down the other children. At least that is my blurry recollection of the game.
How sad some spend the rest of their lives playing a much more intricate and manipulative version of the game, especially those who sit in the highest seats.
It takes a certain kind of person to make it to the top of the grown-up castle. What drive and determination a person must possess, enviable traits, I’m sure, but those in government really have one objective – to rule.
So really what we’re talking about, is an over-achieving, manipulative yet somewhat charming - certainly egotistical - control freak. (and that’s just the basic requirements) That is what you get in world leaders, in most leaders, heads, bosses, all the way down to the pathetic pecking order of the school-yard mothers groups.
And why? Because people are so screwed up it is sickening. There will always be those in life that want to control what everyone else does, who desperately feel the need to impose their beliefs and way of life on other people. Not merely content with living their own lives to the fullest, they believe it is their divine calling to start climbing that castle, pushing people down and stepping on their heads in that relentless pursuit of the top.
(I’m just calling it as I’m feeling it right now… not thinking, just spilling.)
I’m sure there are those who go into power with the very best of intentions, truly believing that they are doing the right thing by the majority.
But the throne of power itself, is a tool of corruption. No man can sit so high, removed from the real world, the real people without becoming ignorant to the reality of that world. Even the most humble would eventually grow apathetic, it is just the way humans are made..
We can’t handle the power! Power turns good men bad, and makes bad men dangerous.
For all my fumbled thinking, I’ve concluded (for tonight) that it is all a matter of perspective.
A great big multi-dimensional glass myriagon, everyone looking in from their unique perspective at reality as it appears in the center.
But reality is a jigsaw puzzle, and we each bring a piece. The picture is never complete from any one angle.
Often the pieces don’t even meet up properly, they kind of float, overlapping one another, fading in and out, sometimes fitting perfectly, then changing again.
Delicate, interchanging, membranes stringing together to form life as we know it.
No man can look through another’s window. Everyone has their own piece and that is all. The problem is then, how can any person fairly judge and rule upon another? And the further removed the realities of the two, the harder to understand the priorities, needs and motives of one another.
I'm sure there was more I wanted to say... its really late, and Im really tired.
Ok, I’m going to bed now.

I know all to well... and when you start rambling like a mad person because you're sleep deprived and you need to get things out... but it's actually not that bad the next day.

Freedom in a Fishbowl
Exactly, though it seems to be a nightly occurence these days... as the sun goes down, the outraged beast comes out... haha, maybe I am just mad.

Perhaps; I personally think it's just a bad time of year.
