Looking Back

Tonight I thought I would go and edit my son, Callum's Blog (aka LIttle Monster Callum's Blog, they updated the site at some point and added these features in where you can give the post a title, much like here. Well as you can guess I couldn't resist reading back all the entries I'd made. Some, well ok quite a few, were just photos with captions and lately I've reposted my entries from here there but it was heart warming and touching to read some of the entries my husband and I had made. I realised how much my now not so little boy has grown up and changed but also how much Daz and I have changed too.
I love being a Mummy, along with being a wife it's the most important thing in my life and I can't imagine not being a wife and a mother. I probably drive everyone mad with photos and talk of Callum, I promise I do have a wider range of conversation, but I just can't help myself. Although he is a little monkey monster he is this amazing person with such a huge heart that makes you just melt.
Today Callum made me very proud. Yesterday it was his Cousin Eloise's 6th Birthday and to celebrate today she had a ten pin bowling birthday party. One of Eloise's best friends has Down Syndrome, she's a lovely little girl. The sad thing was that not many of the other children seemed to interact with this lovley little girl... apart from my little boy. He sat down next to her while they were bowling, cheered her on when it was her go and sat next to her and laughed and chatted while they ate their food. It made me have one of those really proud of my child moments to see how he still has this innocence and that everyone is equal in his eyes. He's always been like this and it's looking that it is a character trait he will hopefully keep in life, everyone is somebody to know in his eyes. Last year when I was at the clinic talking to the Health Visitor about Callums speech she turned round to me and said "You have a lovely child, he has so much zest for life and he is going to be one of those people who has an affect on life and people." I don't know if that will be the case but he certainly has the heart for it.
Well I suppose all that is left is for me to post a photo of that boy of mine. Here he is today just about to bowl.

Thank you so much. He is my pride and joy, I'm glad you liked the stories.
Aaaaah another child...maybe I need to do a blog about Callum wanting a "baby".
Take Care.

The innocence of early childhood is a wonderful thing, isn't it. Beautiful in the situation you described but a little unfortunate when the innocence manifests as a rather loud "isn't that woman fat, mummy" comment, directed at an overweight person walking past.

I wish we could as adults keep the wonderful side of innocence it's such a lovely thing. As for the unfortunate side thankfully I've been lucky with Callum and we haven't had any of those episodes but I've had to deal with my neice having them. The one I remember is while out shopping with my sister, BIL and neice and being in Boots the Chemist. My neice was being a little monkey and my BIL was telling her to behave. I'd walked off to go pay for something at the till and my neice came running up to me saying "Auntie Sarah help me, tell that man to leave me alone."
"That Man" was her father. My poor BIL the looks he got from all the old dears... still makes me laugh.
Take Care.
