Hansel and Gretel at the Barbican

The Barbican will stage a promenade performance of Hansel and Gretel, where the audience can follow the actors through the wintry set on their journey through the forest. From December 1 to January 4.

Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane

With a cast of more than 100, including the winners of the BBC reality television show I’d Do Anything, Lionel Bart’s masterpiece returns to the West End stage with Rowan Atkinson as Fagin. From December 12.

Disney High School Musical on Ice

The on-ice version of this hit musical, which is currently being screened in cinemas across Britain, runs at the O2 Centre in North Greenwich from December 26 to 29. Tickets cost from £19.50


RSC new production, The Tragedy of Thomas Hobbes in Wilton's Music Hall. Hidden in an East London alley, Wilton’s is, according to their website, “the world's oldest and last surviving grand music hall.”

Currently playing at the Vaudeville theatre - Piaf,

Elena Roger as the enigmatic French performer Edith Piaf. Pam Gems’s biographical piece transferred to the Vaudeville theatre in October following a successful run at the Donmar Warehouse. It is booking until January.

A host of West End stars, including Samuel Barnett, Daniel Evans, Josefina Gabrielle, Ella Smith and Sally Ann Triplett, are to stage a special industry reading of new musical Mathilde later this week.

An invited audience of industry figures will run their eyes over this new piece by Conor Mitchell at the Vaudeville theatre this Friday, 14 November from 13:00.

Buddy Closes
Buddy has posted closing notices.

Ruthie Henshall hosts a live schools celebration of musical theatre on BBC radio two at 7pm on Friday 14th Nov 2008.

Hampstead Theatre is to launch its 2009, 50th anniversary season with a revival of Noel Coward’s comedy Private Lives. The play was first staged there in 1962.

Huge ticketing company, Viagogo has signed a deal with Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group to become the company's official premium ticketing partner.

The landmark deal marks the first time a theatre producer has signed a premium ticketing partnership of this kind

Complicit runs from January 7 to February 21 at the London theatre.

Richard Dreyfuss is to appear on the London stage five years after he was fired from the musical The Producers.The US actor was due to take on the role of Max Bialystock in the hit Mel Brooks musical The Producers in London in 2004 but was replaced by Nathan Lane.He joked on Monday: "I'm very excited to have a chance of not being fired before the opening. Stay tuned!"Spacey, who is also the Old Vic's artistic director, said: "He (Dreyfuss) is a brilliant actor whom I've long admired and I'm thrilled that we are being given this opportunity to work together

News International evening freesheet The London Paper has launched an online comedy contest to find London's best stand-up comedian.

Entrants must submit audition clips less than two minutes in length to the newspaper's website. An expert panel will select the ten best acts and post the video clips online
