List of Knitting Skills I've learned
February 5th 2012 21:34
So I was thinking the other day that as I am still addicted to knitting (started July 2011) that I'd make a list of the different skills I've learned and items I've managed to knit over the last 6 months and then the ones I'd like to have a go at over the next 6 months.....
Stitches
Cast On - normal, long tail and magic cast on
Cast Off - normal and elastic rib
Knit
Purl
How to increase - KFB and M1L and M1R
How to decrease - K2tg and SSK
Colour work
Following pattern charts (needs more work)
Sure there's more - I'll add once I remember)
Items knit
Baby jumper
Hats
Mittens
Elephant
Bunny
Reversible toy
Scarf
This year....
Learned how to knit socks and knit 2 together at the same time
Double knitting (creates reversible fabric)
Just had a go at double knitting and although it took a while to get my head round I think I've got it....it's a method of knitting 2 fabrics at once so it's reversible - knit stitches appear on both sides while the purl stitches are inside....due to small needles it was taking ages so no chance I'm going to create a scarf so I made a phone cover instead - I'll be giving it another go on bigger needles with thicker yarn...
What do you think of my first attempt? Not perfect but it was good practice
