Linking
August 7th 2007 05:56
It is now possible to link a Post to another Post within Orble or a webpage outside of Orble.
It's not really anything new, you could always link to any webpage within the content of a post, this just puts the link up next to the title where it's more obvious like this post.
To create a linked Post put the URL of the page you wish to link to in the Link field on the Post creation page.
You can easily copy links and create links to a Post using the "Copy Link" or "Link to Post" button which will appear underneath each Post when you are logged in. If you have more than one blog you can choose which one to create the linked post on.
When you copy a link, or link to a post it's also the same as voting for it.
You could use this facility to maintain a set of bookmarks or to let people know about interesting things on the web without having to write a huge amount of content along with it.
One small caveat: if you have a domain blog I would not start creating lots of linked Posts on it with little or no content in them as it may upset the search engines. I would suggest creating a new regular Orble blog for the purpose and if it proves popular it can always be upgraded to a domain blog later.
Thanks,
Jon.
