Life; our treasure
December 7th 2007 08:36
Mortal, our treasure; life, which we burden
With fears past, fears of our mortality.
We would give everything, even our soul
For immortality, even a small glimpse.
We would give our life for that which is past
But for that which is present, our treasure
How much do we value it? In passing
We see more, and then are angry at life
For what it takes away from us. Our past.
Our treasure is life; then, and tomorrow.
And what is happening right now; all being.
A candle stirs the early evening air
In our home. It is time to share dinner
And talk, laugh, and smile. Enough for hunger.
With fears past, fears of our mortality.
We would give everything, even our soul
For immortality, even a small glimpse.
We would give our life for that which is past
But for that which is present, our treasure
How much do we value it? In passing
We see more, and then are angry at life
For what it takes away from us. Our past.
Our treasure is life; then, and tomorrow.
And what is happening right now; all being.
A candle stirs the early evening air
In our home. It is time to share dinner
And talk, laugh, and smile. Enough for hunger.
