Life - it's Like That! - by Susan Thompson 1

Britney Spears - On Life and Parenting

"Britney Spears" - a household name that resounds almost as much as Paris Hilton! This young woman, is being harassed by the media something fierce. People love to see a celebrity succeed and also fall. The press is mostly there to chase them when down to get the seedier side of life, or else to celebrate with them when all is going well with their career. Yes, there are the rare moments where the media does good and holds a balanced view on a topic or person.

With regards to Britney, fame and fortune have a huge toll on a persons life. I mean think about it... Say you are an everyday person who does something special. Suddenly you are in the public eye. The public relations in exposure to different media is great! However, your private life is now no just your own. You belong to the public - to the media. Depending on how famous you become, the more your movements will be tracked, your successes and failures will be observed by many people.

You will become talked about on multi-levels of media, written about in blogs, appear in print and online publications. Trying to go somewhere such a the corner store can become a major hassle as the press try to take pictures or get you to comment on something or someone.

Yes, being famous may appear to be everyones dream - there is always another side to the story.

Now Britney for instance has brought a lot of joy to millions of people! So now she is a mother to two young children, think about this. When we have children, it is not written about to the masses...our ups and downs are not reported. We have a support network, now where is Britneys? How can she recover properly, have time to heal with the intense pressures that surround her lifestyle?

We are all to quick to judge someone else's life - often without thinking of the other side..How would you like it? To be scrutinized by many people every day,to have your mistakes no matter how silly plastered all over the media? How would you like that type of pressure?

There are millions of magazines, websites, newspapers and more that celebrate the good, the bad, the plain odd and pure ugly sides of life. Before condemning someone who is famous, how about thinking how there life is?

Nothing is what it seems - on the outside it may appear as though the person has an ideal life. On the reality side of things, their ideal looking life may be a living hell. Something to think about....

Going through the archived newspapers, a lady found this extract in a 1901 Australian paper in Kempsey NSW!

A GIRL SHOULD LEARN TO:

Sew
Cook
Mend
Be Gentle
Value Time
Dress Neatly
Keep a Secret
Be self reliant
Avoid idleness
Rspect old age
Darn stockings
Mind the baby
Make good bread
Keep a house tidy
Make a home happy
Be above gossiping
Control her temper
Take care of the sick
Sweep down cobwebs
Humor a cross old man
Marry a man for his worth
Read the very best of books
Keep clear of flash literature
Take plenty of active exercise
Be a help-mate to her husband
Be light hearted and fleet-footed
Wear shoes that won't cramp the feet
Be a womanly woman under all circumstances.

Note: What!! No Lawn mowing or Wood Chopping???

A bit different from today's women?

ANY THOUGHTS??

][Looking outside the window as I drive along this dusty road,

I think of where I have travelled and where I still go.

Keeping Cool at Boiling Point!

Grace under fire… No it’s not being chased into a fire, nor a war zone, not a prayer, or even
a girl’s name. It’s all of the above and a whole lot more. It’s the ability to keep hold of your temper and not say things in the heat of the moment; it’s being to control your response to any given situation. Being in control of you therefore being able to control some parts of your life. You can complain about the weather and friends, the boss, the cat had kittens; the kids are driving you crazy or a billion and one excuses about why these things happen to you. Reality is you can have some influence on some things outside of yourself. For the rest of the time you can only control yourself.

Controlling yourself is not to manipulate others into doing what you want or being forceful. It doesn’t involve using emotional blackmail “the or else.” syndrome or the silent treatment. It isn’t taking your bad moods out on some one nearby or blaming others for your mistakes. It’s not being so scared that you will dodge and weave to avoid a person or situation. It’s not being so full of fear that you have irrational thoughts screaming through your head at one hundred miles per hour. Thinking of what you can do to stop, avoid or put off dealing with the situation. It’s not being so scared to ask for help that you feel like you are the only one – feelings of being suicidal. Dealing with anger in a positive way so that it doesn’t explode whereby you might do something to regret later on
