Leonard Cohen was awesome last night

That's really my only thought. I don't really want to get into a review, because thinking about music kind of overwhelms me (I am a musician; we make terrible critics- which is partly why the whole `as if you could do better' criticism against critics doesn't make any sense. What critics are good at- some of them- is being critics, being good at the thing they're critising shouldn't be required, as is, as I say, in this case a detriment. Not that I'm saying I'm a good musician. I'm not bad, but certainly not in Leonard Cohen's league. Um, here's my myspaces: www.myspace.com/earlleonard, www.myspace.com/theryecatchers and www.myspace.com/theredcents) Um, where was I? Ah yes, awesome! Really good mix of material from throughout his whole career, and many of the songs- given the full band treatment- actualyl came up better than on the original recordings (especially I'm Your Man, There Ain't No Cure for Love and Halleluia. Man the royalties off that song alone must be phenomenal; its been covered by everybody!) hmm, I seem to be reviewing after all... look, my main other thought besides `awesome' is, "three hours? Man, I am so going to mock the next muso I hear complain about being tired after a gig now. If a 74 year old man can give me almost 3 hours of music (less short breaks) you can play at least an hour set buddy." Also, it was a great way to spend our anniversary. rach isn't as big or long term a Cohen fan as I, but she really enjoyed the concert too. Although she disliked the saxaphone solo's even more than I did. (I'm calling them `the persian flaw'). It was our 3rd anniversary, and I'm perfectly willing to cosider Leonard Cohen's voice and aged skin a fulfilment of the traditional `leather' requirement. Awesome.
