Bio- Blog into me

Current mood: adventurous
I don't consider myself a writer. I don't consider myself anything in particular in fact. I consider myself my own person. I don't like how people need "titles." We are all a mix of different talents, beliefs, morals, and people we have been exposed to. I have been raised in two different houses. My dad is very traditional and conservative and my mom is more liberal and free spirited. I have both personality types in me. But I do things the way I want to do them. I believe everything happens for a reason and I do not have regret. I feel sorry for the things I do wrong, but if I didn't do things wrong (or at least admit to them) then I would be a pretty shitty person who never learned their lesson. My love in life is Music, Film and Writing. I have done all 3 since I was very young.

I have been making independent videos for years and love the documentary-style. I have posted a couple videos @ Really Long Link

I've also been involved with music since I was born. I could play piano before I could speak and learned about the industry from my dad, following his band around since I was 2 years old. (He carried me to gigs in a basket) I started writing music around age 4-5...I didn't believe it until I saw the home videos. Its kinda funny. I took piano lessons for about 12 years and quit playing when I went to college since I didn't have a piano in the dorms. But still mess around on it and will soon get back into it...My dad has a studio in the house with a bass guitar and drumset so I like to mess around with that sometimes. I like learning Blink 182 and RHCP songs in particular.

My dad used to encourage me to write from the age of 3 and on. He would pay me 5-10 cents for each book and for a long enough one, a quarter. I had a series called "DOG- DOG" writted before I started elementary school. Writing music and stories is therapy for me. I would like to someday move people by my creativity but until then i suppose I am writing for my own well being.

My name is Katie and I live an anything but regular life. In fact, I believe my life has been pretty over the top ridiculous. I don't know where to begin but here goes...

I love documenting my life through videos and now writing. If you don't like it then too bad. Get your own passion and stop reading my blog!

Waiting for Our Turn to Speak

May 28th 2009 00:07
When I was 5 my dad and I read "How to Win Friends and Influence People." One thing Dale Carnagie expressed was how IMPORTANT it is to listen to others. This is something we all think we know, but none of us really practice it. He touched on a story of how he went to a dinner party and tried talking as little as possible. He let everyone around him talk and he just listened. At the end of the party, the host came to him and said how wonderful it was to have him there. That a few of the guests came to the host and said how he had been the most entertaining of all the guests. This baffled Carnagie. How could he be the most entertaining when he hadn't even said anything?

People are entertained MOST by listening to their own damned self talk.

Remember this at your next dinner party. Test it. It really works! If you really want people to like you, Stroke their ego. Find out as much about them as you can. Try only asking them questions, making little or no comments back. Make it into a game- It's funny when you think about it.

Pursuit of Happiness

The Pursuit of Happiness

I thought the movie could have been a lot better and the ideas in it were so strong and inspiring to be wasted with such a weak portrayal. The last line: "That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what. How did he know that? " Doesn't make sense to me since I really don't think Thomas Jefferson was trying to hamper American's dreams. I think instead he was doing quite the opposite.

We should all relate back to the Declaration of Independence. It just might be what our country needs to get past this recession. We need to stop being lazy and expecting the government to take care of us and instead do it ourselves! We are all entitled to the "pursuit of happiness." We live in a free country. Most of us don't know how blessed we are for this. We have the choice to make our break ourselves. If we fail, the fault is OURS not OUR GOVERNMENTS. We chose to blame the government since most of us chose mediocracy and only want to do enough to get by. This leads to a mediocre happiness. If you want something more than that you'll have to earn it.

Of course we are not all going to be happy. Money CAN buy happiness but it usually doesn't. Poor people can be JUST as happy as rich people. It's merely a mindset. I have taken enough courses in psychology ( i just completed my minor in it) and have gone to enough therapy to know that I don't need anyone to tell me whether or not I'm happy. You may laugh at this comment but it's no laughing matter.

MOST PEOPLE RELY ON OTHERS FOR HAPPINESS

99% of the American population is insecure and will do anything to conform whether you realize it or not. I am one of few who honestly don't care what other people think of me. I do not crave or buy designer items to make me feel more like an adequate human being. I have become comfortable with myself and the only thing I need in life to be happy is myself. This is something everyone should achieve before trying to start relationships, etc. or it'll always end poorly in some insecure retarded frenzy. I have learned through my writing that I could even be happy in a jail cell a piece of paper. How many people could say the same?
