Analysis of a lifetime

March 29th 2011 10:17
Today is one of those "stop and reflect" kind of days for me. One of those ones where you take a minute to do a spirtual self-examination and weigh all of the achievements and failures of a lifetime and add them up.
Right about now, I'm not feeling too bad about that measurement.

I may not have done anything "spectacular" with my life, but it hasn't been a "waste", either, so I'm pretty grateful, and will take the "Be kind to myself." value I've gotten out of it. Peace.

For those struggling in Japan... and for those who survived and lost family and friends at Christchurch, my heart goes out to you ... and offer this prayer from a devotional book written by John Baillie:
Let me stand today-
for whatever is pure and true and just and good
for the advancement of science and education and true learning:
for the redemption of daily business from the blight of self-seeking:
for the rights of the weak and oppressed:
for industrial co-operation and mutual help:
for the conservation of the rich traditions of the past:
for the recognition of new workings of Thy Spirit in the minds of the men of my own time:
for the hope of yet more glorious days to come.

Much love <3

bored-ing to freedom...

December 17th 2010 18:17
This morning...To take the skull-drudgery out of doing my kitchen chores the same way I've done them a million times, I dragged out the skate-board and tried to do dishes, make sandwiches and start dinner all while on-board...

The results...One running cat, three smashed creme horns that were sitting on the counter, one scuffed moulding, 2 luncheon meats on the floor, one happy dog and an amusing half-hour of manuevering. For those of you who are bored with the same routine, I highly reccommend it

changing faces

Sometimes, I gotta wonder at the motivation of the Creator with some of the things I get asked to do. The "Patience is a virtue" lesson, is coming to mind...

Benjamin Franklin said this, right? He also said "The early bird catches the worm."
I haven't felt much lately, like getting up at four a.m. to go out and catch a bunch of worms, but I sure have been behind in all of the things that can take up a lot of time to get accomplished.

I am wondering...I am finding it interesting to inquire about the month and year that a person was born in when I meet someone new based on the seasons and events of any given year. That is, I meet someone and I say to them " What month were you born?" and they say, something like "December," and then I say," What year?" and they say something like, "1952."
I can learn alot about them just by those two words.
That's a pretty interesting inquiry to me about people. I could take that scenario I suggested, and add one more element, like, "Where?" and if they say something like "Poland" I just instantly got so very much info about them it's not even funny

When in doubt

January 2nd 2010 02:34
When in doubt, always try and remember that the sun will be shining somewhere, and that every time you feel like crying somebody is having a laugh and that nothing is ever as bad as it seems. Happy New Year!
