King Arthur - Betrayed Into Madness

January 31st 2012 04:01
Arthur looked to his bed. It looked different. There was a flower on the right pillow. It had been crushed. Arthur narrowed his eyes. He then moved his eyes down and scanned the sheets. They looked crumpled in a manner that made them appear wet and dirty. Arthur grit his jaw and began to sulk.

Suddenly a maiden came in. She had candles in her basket. Arthur knew they had been growing dim, and that their length would appease the issue. Arthur smiled to the maiden, and then he spoke.

“Kind lady, these blankets need cleaning! See to it?” he questioned as he smiled a grim smile that made his spine sweat.

“Yes!” muttered the maiden. “I shall collect the basket!” she said before she placed the candle basket to the side, and then hurried out of the room.

Arthur smiled to the basket. He glared at it as though it were an enchantment. He then chuckled and moved to the basket where he picked up a fine candle. King Arthur pressed his fingers to the tip in order to straighten the wick, and then he moved to a candle in order to light it. The wick flamed, and Arthur stared at the bed.

“I retrace my request!” he declared as he felt more sweat slither down his spine. “These covers are too filthy to become cleansed!” he raged as he saw the silhouette of fine milk-skinned Guinevere on the bed with a lover on top of her. “Fie me! This castle has been sullied!” he shouted before he threw the candle and lit the whole item on fire!

The image of Guinevere was swept under black smoke as orange flames ate the mattress and some other items in the room. King Arthur smiled, and then he coughed. He held up his sleeve to his face, however he didn't move. His eyes wanted to see the bed burn down to the ashes. It was then and only then that he would believe Guinevere had truly died! He grew lit eyes as he glared. He watched until his eyes began to sting, however then the door opened and the flames fanned! They grew to great heights as though the room had been given to the Devil, and that was when Arthur began to choke. Not even his sleeve could protect him from the fumigation! He began to wheeze, and then he coughed as smoke swept into his stare and blinded him.

“Merlin!” coughed Arthur as he tried to make his way to the door!

Arthur bumped into a candelabra, and the whole item smashed to the ground. More flames were born! Arthur coughed and wheezed as he squinted his eyes. It was a shock he didn't walk into the flames himself!

“My castle has abandoned me!” gasped Arthur as rage sat on his tongue before he collapsed and hit his head so hard he blanked out.

Arthur woke. He grimaced as he did. He could still smell smoke. However then he saw Merlin glare down on him, and he was able to sigh. Merlin's presence made him feel calm once more. He was able to smile a little.

“Merlin! Was it a dream?! My castle! My home! Treachery!” Arthur gasped as Merlin continued to glare.

“What do you mean?” asked Merlin as he stared.

“Treachery! Treachery in my bed!” gasped Arthur as he began to recover some thought. “The flower was crushed! The blankets were wet!” he gasped.

“Are you talking sense?” asked Merlin as he narrowed his eyes.

“Divine me! I shall have it carved onto my soul!” gasped Arthur as he glared to Merlin with a stare that almost made Merlin want to back away. “Divine me!” gasped Arthur. “This place had turned against me!” he declared before he felt a bump!

Guinevere had thrown herself over Arthur, and all Arthur could do was glare at Merlin until tears licked his eyes. It was then that Merlin could stay no longer! He picked up his boots and swept from the room as though the truth had speared him to the marrow!

“Arthur has gone mad!” is all Merlin said as he raced away from the castle.

Arthur saw his men gather around him. He sucked in his breath as he glared at them with such strength they began to feel their skins quiver.

“Get this woman off me!” Arthur decreed in a lethal whisper. “She had deceived me! The bed was wet with another’s seed!” he argued.

Guinevere gasped as she straightened and stared into Arthur’s eyes. Arthur glared and saw her eyes were dry - her weeping had been an act!

“Treachery;” grumbled Arthur as he narrowed his eyes. “Treachery! Get her to the cells!” cried out Arthur to his men!

The men grabbed Guinevere and took her away. Arthur got up and dusted himself off. It was then he shivered as he realised his skin had been burnt.

“What has happened?” asked Arthur as he narrowed his eyes. “What has happened? Why are there no healers to heal me!” Arthur raged.

“Merlin had been treating you;” said a maiden who lingered. “Your skin has turned colour;” she muttered.

“What?” asked Arthur as he narrowed his eyes.

Arthur looked over to the side of the room and saw a mirror. He moved to it, and there he gasped as he saw an image of himself that he would have to hide forever! He had blisters on his face, and his hair had gone! He was a monster! His entire body had been licked by the flames and had festered until almost dark! Arthur grumbled, then he turned around in order to glare to the maiden who had a tissue held up to her face. Arthur then turned around, and he gasped as he saw that his spine could be seen through red peeling layers of skin.

“I have been ravaged! And no one to treat me!” he raged as he shivered. “Someone get me balm and rags! I need to be washed, balmed, and wrapped!” he muttered before he glared at his back again and saw ribs. “How can I have suffered this!” he gasped before he turned and moved in order to take his rage out on the fellows who worked in the building.

Arthur picked up a lame sword, and hacked at every fellow he met. He attacked the weeping boy, the writer, the juggler, and even the lyre player. All died under the throws of his fighting arm. However after a while Arthur's knees grew weak, and he could attack no more. He collapsed, and as he rested inside of his mind the world around him stormed so that the king could erase his madness.

Guinevere glared at the crowd that had gathered! She felt threat and anger. Arthur had killed the castles greatest possession, and then he had almost killed his heart. His body rested behind closed doors. Foreign healers had journeyed far in order to treat him. She had been captured and told her dire fate. She was to burn on the stake! Such was Arthur’s request when he had thrown the candle at her bed and lit the room on fire!

“I hadn't deceived him!” argued Guinevere to the crowd who booed and hissed as tears seeped down her cheeks. “I had loved him!” she cried out.

Some rotten vegetables were thrown at her, and Guinevere felt herself grow weak as she smelled the roasting of a pig from across the courtyard. She could almost hear the pig squeal, and she shut her jaw before she became as lowly.

“This is the most horrible moment!” she wept inside of her mind as her thoughts became jarred about how her fate would leave her! “Dire is my curtain!” she muttered as she felt her heartbeat pulse inside of her thoughts.

Guinevere looked to the left, and then to the right. She had become the worlds enemy, and they stared at her with cruel eyes that ate inside of her soul!

“Please God let me die quickly!” she gasped, before the swing of a sword hit the plank of wood she had been tied to.

Guinevere gasped as the ropes fell off her, then she gasped again as she was swept off her feet and onto a back that was good and broad. She wondered where she was going as hisses sounded. She was raced like the wind, raced to the back of a horse, and then she was thrown again! Her face rubbed into the pelt of the horse, and she almost quivered as she was able to touch its warm back with her fingers. The calling of sounds grew to high pitch, however as soon as the horse took wing Guinevere knew she would be safe! She had been rescued by someone wealthy, otherwise there would have been a rampage towards her! They would have been ripped limb from limb if her hero had no honour to support him!

The afternoon grew dim! Guinevere gasped as she was pried off the horse! Her belly had been padded by a rolled up blanket, however it still ached as though she had bruised her intestine. Guinevere laughed and sighed as she was moved to a bed that felt soft. She didn't know it was only a bed of hay some farmer had spread in order to keep the fields from dying in the dry.

Guinevere smiled as she looked up and saw the image of a knight! There was some light left, and she was unable to believe her luck! Guinevere placed a hand on her chest, and exhumed some relief.

“Thankful for your good deeds dear patron!” gasped Guinevere. “If the king were of his mind he would reward you!” she added as she smiled a smile that made the knight bend his knees.

The knight removed his helmet. As he did Guinevere straightened her spine as her jaw fell open. She had been sure it would have been one of the lesser knights who may have served such an errand! She was going to play to him, and circle him inside a web of lies that would ensure their safety from the king! However it was not a lesser knight, or one of the other knights of well established rank! It was great and well liked hero Lancelot who had rescued her. Guinevere couldn't believe her eyes! It was Lancelot! She hadn't done anything but quiver when she had given him honour! He seemed so apart, so duty bound, so strong-set that only stone could be fed to him in order to give him more strength to stand on! He seemed like the Great King who was yet to be crowned. Even Arthur blushed as he stood near!

“My queen;” muttered Lancelot as he bowed his head. “My eyes nearly turned blind when I heard what they were to do to you;” he declared. “So I took it upon my will to remove you in the hope that you would walk with me to my new home;” he muttered. “Having had gone against the kings orders means that I shall no longer be able to return;” he explained as he sucked in a deep breath. “Exile I shall roam;” he said. “But it shall all be righted when I take you to roam with me;” he added before he lifted up his eyes in order to glare at Guinevere's lovely face.

“How could I say no?” asked Guinevere as she smiled. “I had been left to be fed to the Devil's pond, it is honour that I shall be left to live in order to roam countries with you;” she said.

Lancelot smiled, and then he reached into his pocket and took out a jewel. It was a ring, made with such affection Guinevere could only become ever more drawn to it. She leaned in close as Lancelot showed it to her, and then she felt her eyes sparkle as he gently took her hand in order to place the ring on her dainty finger. It was the perfect fit, and Guinevere felt overwhelm make her mind dance.

“It's like a dream...” she almost sobbed as she was pushed onto a plane where she could see Arthur in all of his rich finery.

Lancelot saw the misery inside of her eyes, and he smiled before he took out another item which was a crown.

“My lady Guinevere;” he muttered. “I too have royal blood;” he said as he held up the crown and then rotated it in order to show Guinevere all its fine jewels. “You shall wear the crown, and it will satisfy your craving for royal elaboration;” he said before he gently placed the crown on Guinevere's head.

Guinevere smiled as she shed a tear. The crown fit perfectly! It was so lavish that she felt the world was made finer with it on! She could see the royalty once more, and she smiled as a diamond tear dribbled down her face.

“You shall be happy;” muttered Lancelot as he wiped the tear from her eye. “I have a kingdom already;” he announced. “Back at home;” he added. “It is made of marble and silver;” he said. “There are winter trees, ponds, and an abundance of flowers;” he added. “It is a most noble palace;” he declared. “I shall take you there, and you shall feel happy once again;”

“I thank you Lancelot;” muttered Guinevere. “I thank you;” she added before she perked up a smile that made Lancelot feel good inside of his heart.

King Arthur stormed through the kingdom! He felt angered! He had wrestled with the last healer in order to be able to roam. They had tried to keep him on the bed with ropes, however he had bargained a maiden to loosen one, and he had been able to slip free and kill! He could see Guinevere inside of his mind! She looked to him, and he knew she had been given to another! She smiled inside of his mind, and she teased him - he could only grumble!

“Men!” shouted King Arthur as he stormed into the meeting room with blood on his fingers.

The men jumped inside of their skins, and they shivered as they looked to Arthur.

“I have a query!” Arthur declared as he leaned on the side of the door. “Whose flesh did not cook?!” he muttered as he looked left and right and saw sweat on the knights brows. “Answer me!” he muttered as he saw nervous glances. “Answer me!” he steamed, however then he noticed a seat empty.

King Arthur narrowed his eyes as he looked to the seat. It was Lancelot’s chair. He felt a burn inside of his chest as he felt the sky fall to his feet. The world turned black, and as a runner came through the room he bumped into Arthur. Arthur woke from his den, and then he looked to the runner.

“Speak you or lose your breath!” Arthur declared.

“I declare! Mordred! Prince! Attacking!” the runner declared.

“Where?” asked Arthur as his men stood.

“East village;” told the runner.

“Men!” declared Arthur as he pushed the runner away. “Find me my armour! I shall slaughter Mordred while my blood is tempered!” he declared.

“But sir!” gasped one of the men.

“My armour!” grumbled Arthur as he turned in order to meet a cluster of pale faces. “We shall finish this immature war my sister started!” he declared. “Today!” he added.

Guinevere felt Lancelot deep inside of her. She hadn't been sure she had wanted him to advance to such a level, but he had charged as his desires had taken hold. She had clung to his body that was so firm and muscular. It had proved more difficult then expected with muscles swelling in order to form huge bulks of limb that were hard to get the fingers around! Guinevere thanked her lucky stars that his erection hadn't the same muscular condition! It stayed about the same size as it dipped inside of her. Guinevere felt the world grow light and dark as she was taken into another’s bed. She had finally deceived the king, and she felt a spot empty inside of her mind as she cleared her heart for Lancelot.

Arthur gasped as he felt blood on his face. It felt it had fallen from the sky, however it might have come off Mordred's sword. He sucked in a breath, and then he moved swiftly in order to take down Mordred as though his figure had been a hallucination. Arthur felt his sword go through his bastard son, and he trembled before he removed the sword and threw it away! Arthur left the field as the sky began to turn pitch black. He found a tree which had blossoms, and under it he collapsed. He looked to the sky and saw the moon shine down.

“Thank God;” he muttered. “It shall never be night!” he declared before he sighed out his last breath and fell dead.

The wind whispered as the world fell silent. The field had been emptied of all men, and after a while even Mordred's body was removed. Arthurs body rested alone, as one abandoned. The wind told tales, and it was declared that he had left the world with an empty heart, and so the world returned him none.
