Videogames

May 1st 2009 18:59
Im a kid, aren't I. I have to post about video games and their brain-rotting potential eventually. Videogames are games in video form, for those who couldn't understand the conjunction. As I said, just games. But these are games that have been used to train the military, to predict stocks, and even know who will win the superbowl a bit early. (For some reason I've never seen monopoly do any of these things) But, there's a dark side. I admit that I spend more time indoors on a computer or xbox than out in the yard playing catch. Im afraid that the traditional father-son bonding has turned into a virtual game of baseball on the big screen. I think this is kind of sad. If it were possible, I would destory all videogames and go back to the way it was in the sixties.
Also, videogames are tought to be one of the leading causes of obesity in the US. Before these games, did anyone worry about fat kids? Nope, because kids actually moved more than to get the remote and some coke.

Thank you Samaritan. You are my first commenter.

I completely agree. I really depends on the situation. My point was that there should be the choice available. The post was mainly to argue that Abortion should be legal, for those few times it is really the best thing. Abortion should also be available to, for example, a mother whose child is disformed and would be in extreme pain/bad health for his whole life. (If they live longer than a few minutes) Abortion may be killing a life, but what if that life would only bring pain to the baby and parents?

Abortion

April 29th 2009 15:58
Abortion. Is it bad or good? I'm not sure you can really label it either. I believe in the whole pro-life movement, but put yourself in the place of the kid. Ok. You're ten years old, and you ask your mom, "Why don't I have a dad?" Mom responds," You do, honey." You sak,"Then where is he?" Mom looks around for a second, then says, "He's in jail." And you, the inquisitve child, asks "Why?" And mom pauses again, then states, "he raped me, and out you came" How would you feel to have this happen to one of the thousands of victims of such abuse. And, if the kids that offender's fault, how could the mom ever love the kid like a normal mom. I believe that teens getting abortions for making a bad decision is bad, but in some cases, an abortion is probaly better for both the mom and the would-be child.

Do you agree? If not, or if you just want to yell at me for being stupid, then leave a comment. I will try to respond in my next post. Until then, CU LTR

Steroids. Their in the news, in the leagues, and in hundreds of athletes. People use them to get stronger, faster, better, etc. But there's one thing thats proven about them. They kill braincells, inhibit smart decision making, and can ruin your life if you're caught. I know that many of these people who use Performance Enhancing Drugs want money, fame, girls, and records. But are the Pros worth the Cons? Well, I dont think so. Many people who work hard never get a chance because someone who doesn't have to try to become great steals their spotlight. Is this fair? Now think about this topic from the athletes perspective. You want fame. You want to be the best. No one should compete with you. NO! The point of sports is to show what you truly are, and if thats steroids, then whats the point?

Homework

April 29th 2009 00:41
Homework. A child's endless toil for a good grade and a boring weekend. Sums it up pretty well doesn't it? Well, now there's a kid in Florida who is trying to get it banned as he believes that its a form of slavery. So, here's the point. Do you agree. Post a comment saying yes or no, and a quick explaination why. I will discuss the answers in my next post. C U LTR

Presidents

April 26th 2009 23:44
Presidents. The most important (:-0) people in our country. Now, with an equal system for all people, and no racial or sexual discrimination (which we have had for 60 years) , how did our first African American president only just get elected? Also, why have we still not had a women president. (Maybe they know that the president doesn't really have much power, and that they can accomplish more in the senate or the house) But, the voters truly decide. For example, we could have had our first female vice president with Sarah Palin, or even a female president with Hillary Clinton (eh...yeah right). But these groups of people have put themselves out there and yet they still haven't been recognized. Well, I think that these facts show that discrimination isn't truly dead. But, with the broadening minds of people throughout the country. Women can make a stand. Good luck next time around!

on The End of Earth As We Know It

One word. Wow. I couldn't imagine anything coming back after something like that. It would take thousands of years. Also, how would we know that it sucked. We would all be dead in a matter of minutes.
