Off Season

Any thoughts on starting a resign CC petition? Or am I just being optimistically, and unrealistically naive?

Tuesday night we're seeing American Carol and I'll have a full report later in the week. My hopes are pretty high.

Much Better

August 11th 2008 17:20
So after a rough Cubs series, it looks like things are going much better. There was the near-meaningless spat in the dugout between Manny and Prince, and now a strong showing against the Nats. The thing that is a bit of a concern, of course, is that they won't be playing the Nats in the playoffs, or for that matter, in the final series of the season. At least while the Cubs and the Cards were beating eachother up down south, we were able to gain some ground wild-card-wise and division-wise. Anyone heading out to the game today?

Versus Chicago

July 30th 2008 17:39
If someone would have told me we'd be going into game 3 of the series, down 2, I'd be pretty depressed. I'd also find it hard to believe, considering the momentum we'd built over the roadtrip last week. Any thoughts on how we're suddenly three games back, behind the Cubs, when just a week ago, things were so rosy? Is anyone concerned, or do you think this is just the usual mid-season stumble that all great teams have?

The Happening

July 16th 2008 17:06
Easily one of M. Knight's subpar movies, I'd recommend it for a matinee, at best. It's the type of movie, like his "The Village" that is just fine for one simple, one-time viewing, but it's probably not one you're going to rush back to. It was slightly spooky and slightly thought-provoking, but there were a number of plot-holes and the acting left something to be desired. Few surprises, few laughs, and few scares. His first R-rated movie is not suitable for viewing with the entire family, but if I would still recommend it to the faint of heart, as far as "horror" movies go.

Sex and the City

July 16th 2008 17:03
I had mixed feelings about this one. It was just as well-written and well-acted at the television series, which I own every season of, but it didn't leave me feeling good. Without spoiling any of the rumors, or the ending, I walked away with a feeling of everything just being over. Not really hopeful, not really disappointed, not really anything, just over. There were points that I laughed and cried, although not as much as I would have guessed going in. I would recommend it for the theatre or for the dvd version, and I will be purchasing the former when available. If you were a fan of the show, and you haven't seen the movie, get on out there and do so. And if you're a prude, with a limited sense of humor, and you are completely out of touch with the fun, frivolous, simply enjoyable side of life, I'd recommend you stay home. And that you try as hard as possible to get over yourself.

Half Way There

July 16th 2008 16:46
Well, half-way through the season and the Brewers are still right there, contending. They looked pretty good during the All-Star festivities and they are ready to come back with their ace in the hole, CC Sabathia.

What are everyone's thoughts on their strengths and weaknesses?

Running With Scissors

April 23rd 2008 17:25
Finally, finally got around to watching, and then finishing, two days later, Running With Scissors. On a scale of Ghost World to The Tannenbaums, I'd give it a strong "slightly better than The Tanenbaums," albeit pretty similar in my opinion. My first recommendation would be to read the book before seeing the movie. I didn't do this and therefore, there was a lot of oddness. But I was sort of expecting it, so it's not a problem. I'm looking forward to reading the book though. This is one of those movies that you're either going to love or hate, and you might want to watch it alone or with someone you aren't trying to impress. You could be judged harshly based on your opinion of this movie. But it's definately worth a look see.

Off to a great start...

April 23rd 2008 17:22
But with concerns. Mostly about the bullpen, but some about the hitting as well. Comment all you want. I encourage discourse concerning any and all of what I have to say.

Let's get started... What's everyone thinking about the big meat eating issue surrounding Prince?
