Jennifer Jo Cobb female NASCAR driver
Jennifer Jo Cobb Unites Entertainment, Business, and NASCAR at Kentucky Speedway
As if 36 trucks racing at speeds of more than 165 mph wasn’t entertainment enough, Jennifer Jo Cobb’s associate sponsorship with Jim Finkl Enterprises truly brings the entertainment world to Kentucky Speedway.

Entrepreneur and CEO Jim Finkl has partnered with entertainment mogul Percy Miller (aka, Master P) to deliver the People First Card, a joint venture with Transcard and the Discover Network. The reloadable debit card gives motorsports and non-motorsports fans alike an opportunity to take the first step toward taking control of their financial future. The duo also has collaborated on Vault Load Films which is expected to launch two new films, Mailman and Pig People, over the next few months.

“Our vision always has been all about doing the next ‘right thing’,” said Finkl, whose initiatives also include an educational website for ethnic awareness called My-People.org. “Jennifer has never lost sight of her own vision of racing competitively in NASCAR, and so partnering with someone as committed as we are, to showcase our various business endeavors is a natural fit.”

The logo of Finkl and Miller’s newly created label Starr E Music, which is launching several new artists under the mentorship of Master P like the anticipated debut of rap artist RPM within the next few weeks, also will adorn Cobb’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry. Cobb’s teammates, ARCA RE/MAX Series drivers Amber and Angela Cope, nieces of team owner Derrike Cope, also will run logos from Finkl and Miller’s People First Card, Vault Load Films, and Starr E Music. Rounding out Cobb’s weekend is the introduction of the family-oriented network, Better Black Television (BBTV), designed to appeal to a broad range of television viewers.

“Racing in NASCAR is all about developing and maintaining relationships with your sponsors, and I’m very excited about working with Jim and Percy on their first venture into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series,” said Cobb. “Their passion is evident in everything they do and I hope to play an increasing role in promoting great programs like the People First Card and exciting ventures like Vault Load Films, Starr E Music, and BBTV.”

Jennifer Jo Cobb
Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing and Derrike Cope Inc. are pleased to announce Scottsdale-based The Annexus Group will be returning as the primary sponsor for the #74 Dodge Ram at the July 19 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Kentucky Speedway. The race will serve as Cobb’s second in the series.

“Our NCTS debut in Kansas with The Annexus Group and Providence Medical Center on the truck did not go as well as we had hoped, with a cylinder down and a blown engine on lap 33,” said Cobb. “Our business philosophy is built upon developing long-term relationships with sponsors, and The Annexus Group and Providence Medical Center and Saint John Hospital have been incredible supporters of my racing career. It is so honorable of a team owner to want to go the extra mile for the sponsors and I am looking forward to racing on behalf of these great organizations and debuting at the Kentucky Speedway

bbq, barbeque
I grew up on the East Coast, in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and must admit I was rather sheltered when it came to the whole "BBQ" phenomenon. I mean, BBQ was something you did on the grill out back...burgers, hot dogs, steak, maybe some chicken.

Then I moved to Kansas City, and WOW

Ice Cream: Vanilla vs. Chocolate

ice cream, vanilla, chocolate
Whether it's a sweltering 90 degree summer day or a cozy 72 indoors on a wintry day, ice cream is a delicacy enjoyed by tens of millions of Americans year-round. But the age old debate still remains...vanilla or chocolate?

It used to be that ice cream was ice cream and the biggest decision when purchasing at your favorite grocer was how large a carton. Now, trying to make a selection in your ice cream aisle is more complicated than selecting the newest release at Blockbuster, or deciphering your HMO plan

Pizza: New York vs. Chicago

July 6th 2008 20:44
pizza, new york, chicago, st. louis
Everyone loves their pizza, and in some homes, it's more American than apple pie. But where that home lays on the map, determines what the pizza looks and tastes like...and it can vary drastically. And you know what? Some are very adamant that their pizza is the best style. The line has been drawn in the sauce...

For instance, if you grew up in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast as I did, the New York-style pizza with its fold-in-half slice of cheesy goodness is the only way to go. Pizza is served with a soft, thin bottom crust and airy outer crust and typically only adorned with one or two toppings, though that can vary. Whether in Little Italy, a mom-and-pop shop in Washington Heights, or even select locations across the river in New Jersey, it's the only description that passes for real pizza

Ugh...you said a bad word!

Pizza Hut is like a funnel cake with cheese and sauce! Gross!

I'd rather be dubbed "overzealous" than "disgusting" anyday!

Let the debate continue...

I'm with Cibb on the corporate communication...always have a salutation, use punctuation, and close with your name. It's just sound business, and always will serve you well.

But I also subscribe to the adage, "there's a time an place for everything."

There's short, sweet, SMS/IM style communication...sometimes the abbreviations serve a purpose, but it shouldn't overtake common sense.

Writing for effect (e.g. poetry, lyrics, prose) can give the author liberties that would make a professor cringe, but if it makes a statement, then it serves a purpose.

I agree on the "...and I" statement, however. That's simply laziness in my book.

Ciao!
