All things undergo progress. When we fail to realize this, we often see that somebody is so great that we feel small and incapable, but if we think more clearly, everything undergo progress, therefore, there was also time when that person was at our level, just that the person kept on moving and practicing until he/she now gets to that level of mastery. Besides, everyone started off at different time. Most importantly, where we are right now compared to others doesn't matter at all as long as we keep on moving, because we will eventually get to where that person is right now.
What counts is determination to keep on moving. During practice, if tired get rest, don't pile stresses(body stresses, mental stresses). Just practice to the 'enough' point, do not do it too far over from that point. Any movement at all is better than zero movement at all. Why do many people does not read book voluntarily even when a book is given to their hold? Because they perceive reading as stress. Why do they perceive reading as stress? Because they when they read, they repeatedly read more than enough (far more than their current endurance point at that time). The stress go repeated several times until it get stored in the subconscious that the activity of reading is a stress enacting activity. And so when the person is faced with the activity of reading book, his/her subconscious will surface itself to the person's consciousness as rejection of the activity while the conscious mind may either choose to complies to it or force its way through the subconscious urge, therefore creating more stress than before. The best is to bring the practice to a point a little bit higher than the current endurance point, but not too far from the current endurance point. That way, one's capacity(endurance point) will increase without putting much significant stress to be manifested to the subconscious as a subconscious program.
Being content with just enough prevents extremes. Know when you have enough and there is less to lose. Know when to stop and there is less danger.
