just jam

One of my lesser known passions is for Bonne Mamam jam - particularly the jars it comes in. As you can see, I keep a good supply of it, as i believe it to be one of life's little luxuries.
Not only divine on toast, it creates a decadent filling alongside cream in a chocolate cake - and is great just out of the jar on a spoon when you need a sugar hit. I keep a set of the empty jars and fill them with flowers when we entertain on long tables - just like Penwren's version here:
And for storing bits and pieces they are a dream - see Saganaga's example:
I punched a hole in the lid of one and popped a ball of string inside, feeding the end through the lid hole - no more tangled string in the drawer. In the December 2008 edition of British Country Living, I saw a similar use, where many holes were punched to create an icing sugar shaker.
Jen of Simply Breakfast, uses the jars as a utilitarian drinking glass
and at this time of the year, attic24 shows how they have been great for outdoor mood lighting.
If you're like me, and derive pleasure from the little things in life, go out and invest in a jar of Bonne Maman - my favorite is Four Fruits - and as you spread it on your bread, take in the chic little printed label, savour the flavour and ponder the use of your soon to be empty jar.
I guarantee your day will be a good one.
