Just another Ghost Story: Ch 1 nightmares
June 5th 2009 12:43
Jessica stands in the bedroom doorway smiling as Sam sits up in bed. He looks at her with a smile as his green eyes sparkle.
Sam says, “Jessica, I’ll always love you.” Jess says, “I love you to Samuel, always remember always…” She screams as she is engulfed in flames. Sam screams.
Dean shakes him awake. Dean says, “Are you ok Sammy? Looked like that dream ended bad. There was something good there at first the way you were smiling in your sleep at first.”
Sam is sweating. Tears are running down his face.
Sam says, “Yeah, I’m fine. I was dreaming about Jessica. But it felt so real. She felt so close and so...”
Dean says, “Woe, I don’t need a play by play of your wet dream.” Sam says, “It wasn’t like that Dean. You never understand me. She was burning!”
They start to pack up their stuff to move on. The last case left to many bodies. The local police got involved making it difficult for Sam and Dean to clean up their own mess. Well not theirs exactly. The bodies had been dead for years. Yeah, it was time to get out of dodge.
Sam says, “How’s your ribs and arm?”
Dean says “Hurts like Hell. Well, Hell was worse but it hurts.”
Dean laughs. Sam wonders how he can just laugh about his time in Hell like that knowing how much he was tortured and tortured others. Sam looks at Dean Sympathetically.
Don’t give me those puppy dog eyes Sammy. Let’s go find something else to kill.”
Sam says, “Are you sure you want to go straight into another case? Those zombies beat you, um us down pretty good. And you didn’t get out of Hell that long ago. You have to let yourself heal.”
They throw their stuff in the Impala. They both get in, but Sam has to drive. They are silent until Dean turns on some music. ("Wheel in the Sky" by Journey plays)
Dean says, “I missed my music while in Hell. Maybe I will go get this arm checked out and set better than you could do it Sammy. Maybe I’ll hookup with a hot nurse.”
Sam thinks of Jess in her nurse’s costume. He shakes off his thought of her like he has been doing for years. His phone rings. It’s Ruby. Before he answers it he says, “Yeah, that’s a good idea.”
Ruby tells Sam on the phone that she will be able to meet him again. She doesn’t know where Lilith is yet, but its only a matter of time until she does. She’s trying her best for him. Sam just says, “Ok.” He hangs up.
Sam says, “That was Bobby. There is nothing new on his end. Hey there’s a sign for a hospital. Can I drop you off? You can call me when you’re done with your sponge bath or whatever.”
Dean looks at Sam puzzled. He knows Sam is lying to him again. Dean says, “Yeah, ok Sam.”
Then brothers Separate. Sam heads to a motel to meet Ruby. Dean heads into the hospital to see if he can find someone to take care of him off the record. After resetting his broken arm and taking care of all his other needs in a private treatment room Dr. Mila Forester gives Dean some Vicodin and sets him up to rest on the couch in the family waiting room. Dean is barely awake when something brushes by him in a blurr that gives him chills. He calls Sam to pick him up’
Sam’s cell phone messages plays “Its, Sam leave a message.”
Dean says, “Sam, where are you now?”
Dr. Forester walks in to check on Dean before she heads home for the night. She overhears him on the phone.
She says, “Dean, you want to stay with me tonight instead of in this cold hospital?” Dean says, “Yeah, that would be a better night Dr. …” She says, “Call me Mila.”
Sam’s cell is buzzing on the table by a window across from the bed. Him and Ruby are lying beside each other after he has once again fed on her. She plays with his hair as he stares at the ceiling. Ruby says, “That feels better; don’t it Sam? I’ll always be here for you.” Sam looks at her stunned by what she has said. Finally, he sees his cell is buzzing. He gets up and gets it. Sam says, “I got to go.” Ruby says, “Fine Sam take from me and leave.”
Sam tries to call Dean back. The song Heat of the Moment by Asia plays as Dean’s message. Sam Hangs up. He goes and asks around the hospittal but no one remembers seeing Dean at all. He goes to the closest bar thinking that would be Dean’s next stop. He sits down and asks the bartender if he has seen Dean. He hasn’t. He orders a beer to help him relax. The blond girl a few barstoles down orders another Pina Colada and giggles loudly at whatever the bar tender has said to her. Sam looks up thinking there is something familiar in the girls laugh. He goes over to talk to her. Maybe she saw dean.
Sam says, “Hi, I’m Sam. I’m looking for my brother who might have been here earlier.” She looks at him. They both have a feeling they met before. She says, “I’m Starla, have we met?”
Dean wakes with Mila beside him. He winces when he moves his arm. Then he sitsup on the side of the bed. Mila wakes and rubs his back. She says, “Morning, Dean. You want me to make you some breakfast? There are also a few more Vicodin I can get you from my purse if you want one now." Dean says, “That sounds good.” He calls Sam again.
Sam picks up the phone, but he can hardly take his eyes away from Starla’s bueatiful blue eyes. She seems so farmilar to him. He has been rambling on to her about Dean for the last 20 minutes or maybe longer. She hasn’t left or innterrupted him. Its like she wanted to hear all he had to say.
Dean says, “Why didn’t you pick up last night? Luckily I got a ride and a place to stay for the night. Dr. Mila is taking great care of me.”
Sam says, "Sorry, I fell asleep. I’m at the bar across from the hospital. I was looking for you." Starla rubs Sam’s shoulder. She says, “Sam, I got to go. My roomate, Mila, probably already thinks I’m home.” Sam says, “Dean, I’ll be there shortly. Starla, Dean is at your place with Mila. Can I give you a ride home?” Starla says, “Sure Samuel, I would like that.”
Sam opens the door for her to go out of the bar first. He has a smile on his face and a sense of well being he hasn’t had in a long time. He opens the passanger door of the Impala for her and shuts it when she is inside. She leans over and pushes the driverside door open for him. Sam’s phone rings. Its Ruby. Its odd her calling so soon after he saw he last. He ignores her call. Starla passesout in the Impala. She has that terrible nightmare of burning again.
Sam says, “Jessica, I’ll always love you.” Jess says, “I love you to Samuel, always remember always…” She screams as she is engulfed in flames. Sam screams.
