Just a hint of cynicism

Despite there being a water shortages and restrictions there seems to be no amount of bottled water available. I have nothing against bottled water, the companies that bottle it or the people who drink it. I'd rather drink bottled water than the stuff than what comes out of the taps. I have no idea whats in the water supply and thats what discourages me. At least with a bottle of water I can look on the labelling and see exactly whats in it.
Recently the water companies have come up with this plan to put a "hint" of some fruit flavouring into some of their bottled water. I, like a man who has nothing better to do than to spend what little money he has on marketing ploys, bought a bottle that was mandarin flavoured.
People usually don't like their drinks to be weak, and it doesn't matter which drink it is. It could be the strongest alcohol right down to tea, coffee or cordial, people will always ask to get it just a bit stronger if it's a little (or a lot) weak. Why do the water companies think that their particular drink is any different? I hope this isn't the future of buying or ordering drinks.
"What would you like to drink sir?"
"Oooh lets see. Can I get some hot water with a hint of tea?"
"There you go kids, I got your drinks, water with a tiny bit of cordial to taste"
What next? Sugar with just a taste of sweetness? Current affairs shows with just a "hint" of journalism? The english cricket team with a tiny bit of talent? Oh wait, doesn't matter it seems we've got to that point already...
