Judging

November 7th 2011 02:01
How one treats the most vulnerable members of a society is an accurate measure of who and what they are.

Everyone can bow to the Queen, everyone be helpful to the millionaire. But when it is someone who is in a wheelchair, or blind, or poor, or weak, the reaction is truth.

Most people treat vulnerable members with a certain evil that might be hidden by the public smile or the pleasant voice.

If you want to know how base people are, give them someone they can abuse, and they will abuse them.

At the fanciest hospitals the nurses are so helpful and pleasant, the doctors always on call. At a public hospital nursers channel matron from Concentration Camps and Doctors worship at the shrine of Mengale.

The employee who is so very kind to the bright young thing snarls at the old lady. Ridicules the guy with Down's Syndrome.

Of course there are those who are especially kind when they come in contact with someone who is vulnerable. But if you've ever been in wheelchair or otherwise impaired you know how truly evil people can be.
