Movie Reviews: Somewhere Tomorrow

December 29th 2009 03:31
Sunrise, Somewhere Tommorrow
Somewhere Tomorrow 1983 Sarah Jessica Parker

Wow! The original version of "The Sixth Sense" really kicked ass! "Somewhere Tomorrow" is the tale of a young teen named Lori ( Sarah Jessica Parker) whose father has just been killed in what is apparently a plane crash. So, enter the gods of cruelty, while she is riding her horse through the woods one day she witnesses a plane crash. After ascertaining the situation and making sure that the pilot's friend is okay, she rushes to the side of the pilot who turns out to be a young horse breeder's son whose parents are boarding Lori's steed for the day (coincindenter, and coincidenter) and, of course, they fall in love. I guess what's supposed to make this movie so intriguing is that the rescued pilot Terry, played by Tom Shea, reveals himself to be a ghost. Yep, Terry was killed in the plane crash. However, this movie completely wrests itself from credibility by providing the viewer with the most annoying "surprise ending" twist that I have ever seen. I could tell you what it is, but it made me so mad I can't write about it without my eyeballs bleeding all over the keyboard. So, have mercy on my eyeballs and go watch the thing yourself.

Movie Reviews: Cuba Crossing

December 29th 2009 02:27

Cuba Crossing, 1980 Robert Vaughn, Stuart Whitman

Cuba Crossing
Hey, Everyone. Remember back in the early eighties when America invaded Cuba for the second time? Well, someone sure did! And, here is the little picture to prove it. Cuba Crossing” which for some reason also goes by at least half a dozen other titles such as “Operation: Kill Castro” and something involving the phrase “Dirty Tony” that I won’t bother looking up again, is a fun filled adventure romp about a group of mercenary soldiers, led by ‘ I’m looking for my soul have you seen it?”great Robert Vaughn, who try to assassinate Castro. Vaughn, because his character, who goes by the ridiculous nickname “Hud” (and wasn’t that a cheap horror movie?) is so badass and real, dismisses the fact that that the actual mission to kill Castro was actually a front to get Cuba, which was led by Castro as you recall, to have better relations with America due to the fact that Americans alert the Cubans to the fake assassination plot against Castro. If this is actually based on a true story then our ass is toast. So, Vaughn tries to turn the fake assassination plot into a real assassination plot because he was a soldier involved in the Bay of Pigs invasion in the 60’s, and somebody already shot Kennedy. If this is becoming confusing to you imagine it from the point of view of someone who actually watched the damn turd. There is something there about an annoying mafia boss who kidnaps Stu Whitman’s girl to let the “Cuba invaders” hand a bunch of missiles and other such stuff over to the Cubans. Oh, and this movie contains some of the most hilarious animal attack footage you will ever see in one of these cheapos. Three words. Killer Sea Turtles. Actually, come to think of it, that would have made a much better movie.

As of now, I am not sure what content I will be posting on this blog. The first couple posts should be appearing shortly. For now, suffice it to say, this site is an experiment wrapped in an enigma, cloaked in mystery, with some sort of unidentifiable chewy center. Enjoy!
