House vs. Hurricane

The trancecore sound is extremely addictive and I take any opportunity to discover a new band within the genre. I am a huge fan of bands like Sky Eats Airplane, Attack Attack!, and Enter Shikari but when I was introduced to House vs Hurricane, there was something refreshing about them. It was trancecore, but not as we know it.
House vs. Hurricane are a Melbourne band who truly take the trancecore genre to an epic level. What do I love so much about this band? The use of a more metalcore sound (as opposed to other bands of the genre), clean vocals that don’t sound like a pre-pubescent male with a blocked nose, and the quiet, melodic sections such as in the track, Forfeiture.
House vs. Hurricane use electronic synth and beats sparingly to create danceable happy-hardcore sections within a powerful metal sound. Tracks such as ‘Forfeiture’ and ‘Comforting Our Thoughts In A Continuous Blue’ are made awesome by the use of dance breakdowns that are just so damn catchy. The track, Forfeiture, is just so great. It’s everything I’ve never expected, but it’s set a benchmark for future trancecore bands. A perfect blend of a fresh metal sound (complete with unexplainably great scream vocals), melody and the synth sound we all know and love.
I’m extremely happy that such an awesome band hails from Australia; it gives me hope that they might play a show in my area at some point in time. If their studio tracks are any indication, House vs. Hurricane will be a truly epic live performance.
I highly recommend listening to Forfeiture on their MySpace ( here ) and also going and listening to ‘Comforting Our Thoughts In A Continuous Blue’ which can be found in various locations, one of which being their last.fm profile.
EDIT: Their MySpace seems to have dissapeared... You should be able to listen to them here.
