Traffic Report Problems

We've been having some issues with the traffic reports for a number of blogs over the last few days.

These issues have now been resolved and if your blog was affected then your traffic reports will now return to normal. Tomorrow's stats may include some bad data, so please wait until the day after for a totally clean report.

If your blog rankings have been affected this will run through the system after 7 days. Sorry to everyone who has been affected - it's not nice when your bog ranking drops dramatically overnight!

The server upgrades are now nearly complete and I'm sure you all agree that the new servers are much faster. Hopefully there won't be too many more problems caused by the upgrades. Since having them installed we've already had a 50% increase in traffic!

The Orble home page can still load slowly sometimes. We are working on this and should have it as fast as the rest of the network fairly soon.

Orble Comment Ignore Link

You'll notice a new Ignore link underneath each comment on your blog when you are logged in.

Clicking on the Ignore link will prevent that blogger from leaving any further comments on that particular blog. Note that it does not report or delete the comment, use the other links for this if required

Terms and Conditions addition

A paragraph has been added to the Orble Terms & Conditions which deals with harassment, abuse etc. Comments and suggestions welcome as always.

Harassing, abusing, or cyber stalking (commenting on someone's blog or messaging someone when that person has asked you not to) other bloggers on Orble is strictly prohibited. Before blogging on Orble you should read information on the dispute resolution and three strike policy. If requested to do in the course of an enquiry conducted by an official body (such as the police or another government agency) On Topic Media may hand over information from our logs such as your email address and any IP addresses you may have used, along with times of use.

Three Strike Policy

The new "Three Strikes and Your Out" policy outlined in the Dispute Resolution Post will be enforced from tomorrow -- the 25th of June Australian time -- the delay is to give everyone a fair amount of time to read this post.

If you place a comment or post which insults or demeans another blogger, rather than arguing the point, and that comment is reported, you will be given a warning sent to the email address used to register with Orble. Three warnings and your account will be banned

A reminder to everyone on how to go about resolving disputes and reporting abuse and spam on Orble. Most people won't have any trouble however occasionally it does happen and you should know what to do.

If you spot any spam, offensive material, or if you think another blogger has stepped over the line of acceptable behaviour then click on the "Report" link which you will find underneath each post and comment

Breaking posts are selected by an Editor -- you can suggest your post be included by posting a link in the breaking posts blog.

Your rankings are based on total traffic, not just those sent by other blogs on the network. Most of the Orble traffic comes straight from Google and other search engines -- which is why your blog ranking will not be directly rated to the number of votes your posts receive.

If your stats report 0 it usually means that one of the servers (the one with your blog on it) did not transfer it's stats file on that day.

This could be caused by a number of problems -- usually that server being down at the time the stats files are requested. I'm always working to make the system more reliable -- most of the problems caused by the upgrade to the new servers have been fixed.

Your AdSense stats will not be affected in any way by these problems -- the two systems are not at all related.

Hi Guys -- the servers are being upgraded and that always causes a few issues. I'm working with the ISP to have them resolved. Once it's all over we should have much faster loading times.

Traffic stats will be back today -- this issue was again caused by the new server upgrade.

Spam has always been a problem on Orble and it's no worse now than it's always been -- it comes and goes in patches as spammers find Orble, and then give up after a while when all their comments are removed. The only other option is to ban anon comments across all blogs. If you see spam please click on the report button.

You can predate them as far in advance as you like -- as long as Orble still exists they will be published

That spammer has been banned and all his comments deleted. They usually stop when they realise that their comments are being deleted.
