A paragraph has been added to the Orble Terms & Conditions which deals with harassment, abuse etc. Comments and suggestions welcome as always.

Harassing, abusing, or cyber stalking (commenting on someone's blog or messaging someone when that person has asked you not to) other bloggers on Orble is strictly prohibited. Before blogging on Orble you should read information on the dispute resolution and three strike policy. If requested to do in the course of an enquiry conducted by an official body (such as the police or another government agency) On Topic Media may hand over information from our logs such as your email address and any IP addresses you may have used, along with times of use.

Three Strike Policy

June 24th 2009 22:32
The new "Three Strikes and Your Out" policy outlined in the Dispute Resolution Post will be enforced from tomorrow -- the 25th of June Australian time -- the delay is to give everyone a fair amount of time to read this post.

If you place a comment or post which insults or demeans another blogger, rather than arguing the point, and that comment is reported, you will be given a warning sent to the email address used to register with Orble. Three warnings and your account will be banned.

All debate on Orble should be conducted in a civilised manner. I realise this utopian vision will not happen in reality, and most likely a number of bloggers will be banned. However the amount of time Orble support is spending on simple childish bickering is getting out of hand.

Orble staff will be the final judge of what is considered an insult or demeaning. Be aware that much of what has been allowed to continue in the past as "colourful debate" will now be considered beyond the pale.

This policy will most likely only have an impact on a very small minority of bloggers on Orble. For everyone else -- thanks for keeping Orble a fun and friendly place.

Regards,
Jon.

A reminder to everyone on how to go about resolving disputes and reporting abuse and spam on Orble. Most people won't have any trouble however occasionally it does happen and you should know what to do.

If you spot any spam, offensive material, or if you think another blogger has stepped over the line of acceptable behaviour then click on the "Report" link which you will find underneath each post and comment

Katyzz -- messaging is definitely not allowed either. If this happens let support know.

Good point, and thanks for spotting the spelling mistake.

I've amended above. I did intend to mean cyber stalking. Real life stalking is something for the police to handle if it happens.

Appreciate any thoughts on the expanded definition.

Damo -- you were notified about the comment because you've got a comment further up the page.

The system does not notify you when you make a comment.

Most likely someone has posted using a tag such as

" Damo" (space Damo)

which then just looks like you posted it -- but would be easily identifiable as a fake if the comment had not been deleted -- but looks like you in the email notification.

If you could please forward me (support -at- orble.com) the notification email you received that would helpful.

From the information I've been provided regarding the time the comment was posted I can definitely say that no-one's account has been hacked.

I've identified everyone who used that page at the time in question (and for hours either side). I've sent out a few emails asking for more information from people and I'm sure we can get to the bottom of it at which time I'll decide what action to take.

Meanwhile I'd ask that everyone refrains from escalating the situation.

An email was sent this early morning requesting more information. I've sent it again.

From the information you provided it appears unlikely that your account was hacked. If you are able to forward the the comment notification email you mention then I'll be able take a closer look at the logs.

Meanwhile I'd suggest that you refrain from making accusations.

Thank Elizabeth,

Good suggestion with regards to the Ignore button. People have been asking for something similar for a while.

It does not get around anon comments although we could make it as difficult as possible.

How did your other blogging sites deal with anonymous comments? Or did they just not allow them?
