Joe Paterno has died
January 22nd 2012 17:21
Penn State former football head coach Joe Paterno passed away early Sunday morning due to complications from lung cancer. Paterno was 85 years old.
Paterno was the head football coach at Penn State for the past 44 years, he worked at the university for 62 seasons. Due to a scandal which breached the university, Paterno was fired at the job. I for one will remember the coach for all those years he spent on the sidelines, leading those Nittany Lions onto the field. Paterno was a classic head coach, he loved the job, hence when the school asked him to step down in 2002, the coach turned them away. Paterno was fired on Nov. 9th, and now a little over two months later he is dead.
Paterno had a great graduation rate at the school, just topping 87%. He built the Penn State legacy which was torn down by this scandal. Paterno is one of those people who should never be forgotten. He was a special coach, and person.
