Why are people so damn sensitive?

Today, whilst enjoying numerous email threads throughout the workday, I was astonised as to the reaction of one of my "colleagues" I use the term loosely as she really is a waste of space, a useless species of non-english speaking background who needs things explained to her over and over and over again!
Anyway, this person we shall call "CANCAN" sent a photo of a costume she planned on wearing to a costume party, who it is, is not important. I saw the picture and wrote back to the thread "CANCAN, you know you can't wear that, haha" - clearly, haha indicates a joke here people.
Well, the torrent of abuse flowed thick and strong, "how dare you say that, I can wear whatever I want, your costume is shit."
BLAH BLAH BLAH
WHY ARE PEOPLE SO SENSITIVE!
I do not understand the touchyness, the comlete overreactions, and life is full of these little tasty tidbits of agrivating joy!
I hear some of you saying, perhaps your being senstive blogging about it, but this is not the end of the story.
The thread was then interjected by a thirs party, who decides to randomly change the suject, and instantly the situation is just left , unresolved, no movement, no solutions, do I hate CAN CAN , does she hate me?
To make it worse, CAN CAN picks up the random interjection and runs with it, completely forgetting I just insulted her so much!
People need to deal with issues, to confront people, am I that intimidating? Is it really that hard, and at the end of the day does it even matter.
All you conflict avoiders out there in the world its time to jump on it, deal with your issues, face those bullies like me, people with respect you more, and you will feel better about yourself.
CAN CAN and I continue to ignore one another, her wanting to pretend nothing happened, myself, filled with utter contempt for her unique brand of stupidity.

It was awful at best, terribly performed, some of the "acting" in the film caused people to laugh out loud in the cinema!
Definetly tainted
