This is something I have been very excited about for a while. Sass & Bide's dynamic duo Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke open there first Queensland shop today. The locally bred designers will be in Brisbane this morning when the doors of the James St boutique open in Fortitude Valley.
Apparently the pair had always planned on opening a store in Brisbane but where just waiting for the right time. Its quite exciting when you think about the fact that there are only 2 Sass & Bide stores world wide now.
I cant wait to check it, I suggest everyone else out there do the same thing!
I thought I would take the time to write about a friend of mine that has just recently started her own label.
Karla Rose is the 18 year old designer behind the eclectic retro fashion label colour.rose. Karla and I met last year when we were studying Clothing Production at the North Coast Institute of Tafe. It was immediately clear to me that Karla was an exceptionally talented designer and machinist, who had a completely individual style and eye for desgin.

Karla specialises in clothing for women, with her latest range being Summer 06. The range is full of retro prints, 80's inspired cuts, and bright colours. Althought the range is a majority of female clothing, she also creates some mens t-shirts and shorts, in similar styles.

Karla uses a mixture of high quality fabrics with most garments being 100% cotton, making the garments not only very cute, but also extremely comfortable. Each style of garment is made only once in the same fabric in each size, which ensures you have purchased a completely original and unique design.
Currently Karla only produces sizes 8, 10 and 12, but upon request will be happy to produce any style in a larger size.

Karla guarentees any garments that are faulty will be fixed that day free of charge, and although she does dont refund, she will be glad to exchange any garment that you are not happy with.
Karla can also help you with any designs you might want made up, for as well as being a exceptional designer, she is also a talented pattern maker .
