Asstastic Weekend!

October 13th 2009 02:33
Anyone get a look at that truck? Another weekend has come and going but it was a good one. WVU and the Falcons had easy ones, hung out with some friends in the neighborhood, and topped it off by going to see Vaughn and Favreau's new movie Couples Retreat. Even though it's hotter than hell outside there's always something going on in Florida this time of year. Next week it's Stone Crab weekend followed by Oktoberfest and finishing right into Halloween. My liver just crapped it's pants! Oh well, here are some thoughts form the weekend....Happy Columbus Day!

All Over the Place:

Unfortunately the Yankees look unbeatable......Los Angeles doesn't have an NFL team but they got two in the Championship Series.....I complain about the Florida heat but I'll take it over the Colorado cold any day.....BTW, Go Rockies!.....Kristen Bell is smokin'.....Congrats to my niece Erin for the newest addition to the family, Baby Jackson.....Glad to see K-Fed's in fat camp.....Derek Anderson was 2/17 for 23 yards? Really?.....Whose a bigger grease fire at this point.....Bucs, Bills, or Raiders?.....I hate to see Bobby Bowden go out like this.....Beer tip: Hacker Pschorr, delicious!.....Vince Vaughn was on point in Couples Retreat but Favreau stole the show.....You might want to pick up Letterman in your death pool.....this pig flu shit has woken my inner OCD.....Matty Ice looks like the real McCoy.....BTW, the Entourage season finale was outstanding.....Pork enchiladas are highly underrated.....Check out Wanda Sykes HBO special if you want to laugh your arse off.....nothing is more pathetic than a grown ass man giving himself a nickname.....WVU should be 6-1 rolling into Tampa in a few weeks to beat down the Bulls.....this Twitter phenomenon is fascinating.....Congrats to the USA Presidents Cup team, what a clinic by Tiger.....73 days until Christmas???? Wow!

Stay thirsty my friends.

New format coming to epium.com soon.

Indian Coconut-Chicken Curry

Serves 6

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
4 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
4 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
2 tablespoon ground coriander
2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, or to taste
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup chicken stock
2 pounds boneless chicken, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/3 cup chopped cilantro, for garnish (optional)
Steamed basmati rice, for serving

In a Dutch oven or enameled cast-iron casserole, heat oil, then add onion and cook until nicely browned around the edges, about 7 minutes. Add garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute. Add coriander, cumin, turmeric, cayenne, and black pepper and stir for 1 minute. Add salt, tomatoes, and chicken stock and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the tomatoes are softened. Add chicken and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes.

Add coconut milk and simmer partially covered for another 15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the chicken is cooked. Add cinnamon and cloves and simmer another minute. Remove from heat and garnish with cilantro. Serve with steamed basmati rice.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

September 2nd 2009 18:43
I am. From tomorrow night until the beginning of February we will have 5 plus days of football a week to talk about, gamble on, fight about, fight with our wives about, etc.. I love this time of year in baseball as well but there's not a whole lot left to be settled and football has a little more sex appeal and a shit load of story lines. Today we'll focus on college. First, the babbling buffoons on the talk shows have somehow forgot how bad Notre Dame has been in recent years and have placed them in their preseason Top 20. It seems as if these tools think that Notre Dame being good helps college football.....I disagree. I think the bellwether teams of the average scribes youth being bad are good for the sport. Next, has there ever been a team expected to do so much as this years Florida Gators? I wish I would have lived in the Sunshine State when UF, FSU, and UM were all competing for the state title but unfortunately it's all Gator talk these days. Is the Heisman race between Tebow, Colt, and Sam Bradford? I think it's Tebow's to lose but look out for Cal's Jahvid Best and Oklahoma State's Dez Bryant. I know the Virgin Tim has already been anointed Sainthood but losing Percy Harvin will affect him but we'll have to see how much. More to come later........

All over the board:

Who else thinks Dick Rod had a freshly cut onion in his pocket for his tearful presser on Monday? Rich's deal with the devil is about to come due.....Is Lou Holtz on shrooms? Notre Dame as national champs? Wow.....Pitino's recent tantrum reinforces the theory that these pricks think they are ten feet tall and bullet proof....Tacos and Tequila make me happy.....Inglorius Basterds was good but Brad Pitt was great....Did anyone not take A.P with their first fantasy pick?.....Colin Cowherd makes me sick to my stomach.....Tiger might be human after all.....Kirk Herbstreit can go away any time now.....Is Tebow a virgin due to his faith or his sexual preference?.....Sloan or Ashley? Duh.....What is a "Schism"?.....Worst concert of the year-Motley Crue.....cookies are underrated.....pray for the people in the line of fire in So. Cal.....Rays are done if they lose tonight....stoked to see outdoor baseball Friday night.....FSU will beat the "U" by two touchdowns Monday night....I'm pulling for A-Rod in NYC this week and not the douche bag third basemen, Roddick should have NYC on his back after that epic battle at Wimbledon....It looks like Tigers at Yankees and Red Sox at Angels in the ALDS with 30 games to go.....

Weekly Picks:

Game of the week- Alabama v. Va Tech

Upset of the week- Syracuse over Minnesota

Ass hat of the week- Rich Rodriguez

Pick of the week- Penn State -27

Quote of the week-"I never drink anything harder than gin before breakfast." -W.C. Fields

Beer of the week- St. Bernardus Abt 12

Crime and Punishment

August 21st 2009 15:38
I don't think you need a JD to figure out that the rules for Jon Q and celebrities are very different. It most cases the celebs get an enlarged strike zone in life, maybe a little more lee way because they have more to offer. This theory was destroyed in both the Vick and Plaxico cases. One of the talking head legal analyst said yesterday that "prison is for bad people, not stupid people." Plaxico shot himself in the leg, that's stupid not bad. If Joe Blow shoots himself in the leg at Club XYZ nobody ever finds out. Two years in the hole with bad people? The punishment doesn't fit the crime. Michael Vick fought, hung, and electrocuted dogs and did almost two years in prison. I think the punishment was fair but it was not consistent with previous Federal dog fighting sentences. It was more severe, Vick being a celebrity was used against him to make an example. Move on to the Bluegrass state where only 80 miles separate the two shadiest characters in collegiate sports......Pitino and Calipari. The Italian Stallions have really made their mark this summer in horse country. First, Pitino humps his stalker at his favorite Italian Restaurant and then pays her to "hush up" and get an abortion. Even though it sounds like this broad was a bunny boiler how does Pitino speak to the alumni, donors, student athletes, and recruits with any dignity? If you ever eat at Porcinis in Louisville sit at the bar. Next, Mr. Calipari became the richest coach in college history while having to vacate his second Final Four and all the W's included. Even though his name is not directly linked to these allegations, is it a total coincidence that this has happened to the paisan twice? Is it any wander their both now members of the Bluegrass Mafia? David Stern would have these two goons banned for life but their made men in KY and the NCAA.

Dog Days of Summer

August 5th 2009 00:30
In ancient Greek lore the "Dog Days of Summer" were generally from late
July to late August. The term was used to describe a period of time that was hot and/or marked by a dull lack of progress. Isn't it ironic that during these so called Dog Days that Michael Vick got his conditional reinstatement back into the league? I agree with the commissioners decision to give Vick a second chance even as a life long dog owner and dog lover. The man has spent over 18 months in prison and has lost nearly $150 million. The question now is who if anyone gives him a chance? A majority of teams weren't interested in him before he became doggy Hitler due to his low completion percentage and his poor work ethic. Vick is an amazing talent that now has even more baggage than before due to the uncertainty of his diminished skills and moral rehabilitation. A team won't sign him to run their offense but to be a complimentary player on an already above average team. At the time being there has been no team to show interest in Vick but you can't tell me that there are over 1600 better players in the league than Mike Vick.

Greetings!

August 4th 2009 21:01
Let me be the first to welcome you to my blog that I will update as often as possible. I intend to cover a variety of topics ranging from local and national sports to movies, music, and food. I will also cover current events, sex, booze, gambling and politics. I'm not going to bullshit around and tell you what you want to hear, how you want to hear it. I'm not doing this to kill time but to try to build an audience that will someday allow me to cover and report on these topics while generating revenue for my business. I'm a man's man with a soft side....kinda like "Braveheart" meets "Terms of Endearment" or Ozzy meets Yanni. I love music, food, sports, spirits, and movies but care for family and friends more than anything. Follow me and I can't say we'll always see to eye to eye but I can guarantee it will be a lot of fun. Suggestions for themes and topics are always welcome and if you care to share a recipe, golf tip, movie review or thought please don't hesitate. Spread the word and live a little today.
