Jamoz's corner - by jamoz

Jamoz's corner - December 2007

Something struck me in regards to the media digging up comments made by politicians years ago. I bring this up in relation to Mike Huckabee making comments at a convention for Southern Baptists over 10 years ago. He said that "I hope we answer the alarm clock and take this nation back for Christ." In defense of Mr. Huckabee, it is who he is...an ordained Minister. Now he's going to get pummelled by the left in the US for being to "Christian" just as Obama was for not being "black" enough.

To not know who Mr. Huckabee is and what he stands for would be an act of lying by omission. At least he's brave enough to stand there and let us know who he is, instead of hiding behind the "separation of church and state" clause that so many of our leaders cling to simply to aquiesce to the powerful left. Maybe if he gets to become President he may bring some moral serpitude to the White House which is something that has been severly lacking for quite a few years.

John Dyson's South African past

December 31st 2007 00:50
Ever since John Dyson became West indian cricket coach, one thing has nagged at my craw. This nagging has everything to do with the fact that Mr. Dyson after his career was gutte by the rampant West Indies in 1984-85 decided to turn his back on Australian cricket and join the rebel Australian tourists to South Africa. This man helped to bring Australian cricket to it's knees. Yet we, being the proverbial drowning man clutching at straw decides to cling to the very thing that we tried fighting against. I find it unfortunate and offensive that this man is employed by the West Indies board and yet there are some West Indian players who are still villified and ostracised for their part in the West Indian rebel tours.

My question is this...how can the WI board support a man who took "blood money" (that's exactly what it was) and yet refuse to acknowledge former West Indian players? Some might say that we should let bygones be bygones. I say the board needs to speak up on this matter. Did they know or didn't they know? If they didn't, how is it that they didn't know what this guy did? If they did know, why weren't we told? We have every right to know who our coach is and what he's done.

Recently word got out that 16 year old Jamie-Lyn Spears, star of the Nickelodeon show "Zoey 101" is pregnant. It just happened to be another slap in the face for shows that are aimed at young people where their stars have been embarrassed publicly. Vanessa Hugdens decided that it would have been a good idea to take scantily clad and totally nude photos of herself and send them to her (now ex) boyfriend. Unfortunately, they ended up being consumed by the public, as the majority of us plebs gobbled it up simply because we love to see young, fresh, innocent young ladies acting out our fantasies.

Now Britney's sister is pregnant we must be careful and not tie Jamie Lyn in with her sister. They are two different people, although it does speak volumes about the type of parenting and guidance they may or may not have gotten over the years.

I heard someone say Jamie Lyns case is why the sexual abstention programme doesn't work. Oh really? In that case it's the same reason as to why the safe sex campaign isn't working either. Has anyone considered that the kids just aren't listening? It's not just the teachers who are responsible for the sex education. Where are the parents to actually speak to and guide their children away from sexual promiscuity? Why don't parents take the majority of the blame for this? Sure we can blame the teachers and the government till the cows come home but in the end the parents must be held accountable. Abstention only works if a young woman has the strength and sense to say "no". Children get pretty much all of their sense of self from home, not school, not friends, but from their parents. Even though society has many lessons for young people, teaching them to be smart and strong isn't one of them. It has become permissive enough to teach them that "It's okay to do what you do, as long as you enjoy it! Go ahead! Be safe though!"

We have children having children in every strata of the society and yet we are shocked that a sixteen year old girl who is well known falls prey to the same thing? Why? Is she supposed to have an extra set of morals that we don't know about? Is to wear a chastity belt to keep herself pure? Well, maybe her millworker boyfriend picked the lock. Well, lady and gentleman (I say that only because I have about two readers) look on the bright side, she never did declare publicly like her sister that she was going to remain a virgin until she was married, and thankfully she's going to keep the baby. At least she has that much sense.

Why we fear Hitler

December 29th 2007 00:32
"Even Hitler didn't wake up going, 'let me do the most evil thing I can do today.' I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was 'good.' "[/I Will Smith

The above quotation comes from actor and former rapper Will Smith. When I first read it, I unlike some other people didn't find anything horrific in what he said. I had to agree with him. I unfortunately think there is something good in all of us. We just use what we have the wrong way.

As this time of year is known as the silly season, I am going to devote some of my time writing about the idiots who tend to try and make this joyous time of year as miserable as they can. I, of course refer to those who have tried for years to rip the CHRIST out of Christmas. They complain about CHRISTmas trees being up, shops displaying "Merry Christmas" signs or Christians having any kind of public displays of worship (even though the trees and santas don't actually have anything to do with Christianity). It is the idea of promoting Christianity that gets some people to act the fool.

To give a perfect example, some clowns in high places have decided to stop their workers saying "Merry Christmas" to customers. Instead it has to be "Happy holidays!" Oh really? Here's my sugggestion, if you don't like Christmas or what it represents why don't you say "To hell with Christmas! I'm not going to have any holiday this end of year, I'm not travelling, my family won't get gifts. In fact this year I'm going off to work just the same!" ? If you don't like it don't support it. Here's a better idea why don't you just hide for the next few weeks so we don't have to listen to you whinge and b***ch about what your religion or your lack of faith isn't getting from it. Do you hear Christian begging to be a part of Ramadan or the festival of lights or passover? No. Simply because it's not ours to be a part of

Texan justice

December 6th 2007 01:10
There is an interesting situation going on in Houston, Texas where Joe Horn saw two burglars leave a neighbours house. He immediately did the right thing and called the police. The police seemed reluctant to do anything so he did what he believed to be the right thing. He cocked his gun and took aim at them. He was warned not to do it by the police but he did it anyway. He must have had good aim because he killed both men. There are two angles to this story. One he is white and the two burglars were illegal black immigrants, and two he has not yet been charged with two counts of first degree murder. What was once a "neighbourly" act of protecting someone elses property has now turned into an all out racial incident.

I can see the point of his actions. I don't condone killing but he did what he believed was the right thing to do. Despite them being black or illegal , there is little evidence that he did it because of what they were but because of what he saw them doing

The ghost of Neville Chamberlain

December 5th 2007 05:04

So yesterday it was announced that Iran is no longer in the market of producing nuclear weapons. Isn't that a relief! Mr. Amenihijad has just been playing with us all the time about wiping Israel off the map. I'm sure deep down inside he really loves the Jews and this is his way of showing it...by not making any more of those bad weapons!
