James Camerons misguided attack on Christianity
February 26th 2007 05:55
According to the Belfast Telegraph film director James Cameron will reportedly hold a press conference tomorrow and claim that he has discovered the tomb of not only Jesus but also of his mother Mary, the other Mary (with whom he claims he had a child (Judah) with who is also present in the tomb) Matthew and Jofa.
I have a real problem with people like Mr Cameron because they not only seem to forget some important facts but lack common sense as well. First, when the Disciples raised the alarm that he was not there and then claimed to have seen him raised from the dead, then all the Romans would have had to have done is go to the tomb (they had guards outside and knew exactly where the tomb was) rolled away the stone, taken him out and paraded him around the town to shut up and slaughter the Disciples. The Romans didn't do that, which would lead me to believe that either the resurrection is true, the Romans were in on the greatest hoax of all time, or the Romans were outsmarted by a small band of rag tag mostly uneducated men and women.
My understanding is that there had been a few men who claimed to be the Messiah, and all suffered for their claim, including Jesus. You don't hear about the others because they died and their claims died with them. After the crucifixion the Disciples were huddled in an upper room living in fear of their lives and scared for the future of the movement. To them, if there was no Jesus, then there was no movement. Until He appeared to them and they saw and spoke to Him and they were given the Great Commission in the mountains which they took to the ends of the world.
If he was never resurrected, why would they start a hoax and lie which would have gone against everything that Jesus would have stood for and that they knew would cost ten of the twelve them their lives? Why would they die for a lie? Who would willingly die for something that they know is untrue? After seeing or hearing the first stoning or killing of one of my close friends I'd want to reconsider my position if we had been lying to cause trouble. None of them did. What does that tell you?
This claim by Cameron is just another in the long line of blatant attacks on Christianity. People love to attack Christianity and Christians simply because it's an easy target to take shots at. Christians will sit there and eat whats dished out to them, whereas the Muslims get upset if you even mention the Quran or Mohammad in the wrong context. These days it's wrong to attack virtually anybody who's different in either looks, sexual orientation, and religion (if you're a Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Bahai, Rastafarian you're okay) except if you're a Christian where you're likely to find you're ridiculed and attacked for your beliefs.
The newest bashing of Christianity comes on the heels of the Davinci Code (book and movie) which is telling a different story of what happened to Jesus. Why don't these Christian haters make up their minds? Either He fled to France with Mary and their baby or He and His entire family is buried in a single tomb in Jerusalem and if they still can't come to a solid logical conclusion perhaps in the end He may have been exactly who He claimed to be.

I just hope James Cameron finds his brain during the exhumation process ... but somehow? I doubt it very much ...
