My Dinner with Andre
My Dinner with Andre

My Dinner with Andre takes place solely as a dinner conversation with two friends, two thinking analyzing friends at that. It is a brain full of thoughts to ponder. Full of jumpy subject matter that could give you a headache but also stimulate your thinking.
There is no way to cover all the subjects quickly poked at you throughout this film. It is definitely one to be seen more than once to even come close to give the thought to all the points.
Dinner
Most of the movie

This movie to me proves a point that I have increasingly felt has come to the fore in my life. That is, No matter what we feel on a matter we can support it. We can say on one hand, “life is getting better” and we can say on the other hand, “Life is getting worse”. We can point to answers in within the same society to justify both.
The main question may be are we living mechanically or in some way found out how to live by our own design. Unfortunately, it will always come back to being able to view things either way. If one is content just sitting with no purpose and one is content only with some sort of purpose (like reading a book) which is living mechanically?
Either way the scary thought portrayed is the idea that we may be only acting and not living according to our self.
One point brought up is how we tend to look at events in which seem to tell us something based on their significant meaning and closeness to our life. In which they may even point us in a direction due to the progress of events that are presently affecting us.
“A group of meaningless facts that are collected and interpreted in a scientific way may quite possibly be relevant”
“They are based on experiments that can be repeated”
What about the thought of omens or the future telling us where to go in the present. Is it a way to let ourselves off the hook as to what we should do, not taking responsibility for what we do? Could it not just be events that – Just Happen?
This film is interesting. Watch it only when you are up for a long conversation. Otherwise it may be boring.
Drink of choice is a glass of roster 47 followed by amaretto.

Orble Downs

July 18th 2009 02:36

I am now in a funk. I joined orble with great enthusiasm not too long ago. I had lots of great movies I thought others would like. Then out of nowhere I’m not liking what I watch and what I write. First of all, I have to say to Bryan to stop posting such good movies! You take up my time with your great suggestions of movies with the reviews you offer then I am stuck watching them. Otherwise, I have seen some really non-writable movies. Some are ok but not inspiring for some reason.
I need to get back to it!
I am watching acts of worship right now and it is pretty good. I think I may just need a druggy movie to get me going.
I feel like a new kid trying to fit in to the orble community.
Well, I’m here just like an unwelcomed ghost.
I really want to review Pieces soon….Rent it and then read my review

Ricki Lake

Facebook is lame like Ricki lake is lame.

Whatever social network you want to give credit to for bringing us the great communication we have today it's not facebook. Just like Ricki lake didn't bring about the daytime talk show.
Copycats are part of entertainment. When one thing is good, of course, someone else will try to do better and make some money along the way. No fault to them for trying. People will always improve upon what is there and that is one of the best things to happen. But...

There is a bandwagon facebook movement going on.

What will happen if someone comes and try’s to say they are better then orble?
A change here and a change there. oh, and your friend says they are the new thing! Are you gonna move out?

How many profiles will you have in one life?

I'm just saying the internet is getting insane and we need to support some roots

Book - Part 1 - Drunk Rant

June 18th 2009 03:16

.. what am i doing now? I'm contemplating pretty much anything i can to hopefully express myself in a way that is interesting. life has become crazy like a never ending verity of odd looking freaks. like the massive sore that you cant stop looking at. someone recently told me that "we all do stupid things" I'd like to add that we not only all do stupid things but we also all have stupid things happen to us. is this beer making me fat?
somehow in the course of what seemed to be a perfect life things have become complicated, become unsure, become new, but not always good. when it rains it pours they say. and by they i mean in general. i like to think that is a very true statement. i may change my mind about that though. or maybe just say at present i believe that to be a very true statement. seems to me that anyone i know gets hit with more crap then one thing anytime the crap falls out. like the guy who says that he pretends that when his crap is falling out like a lot of little donut holes he is giving birth to a litter of tiny badgers. then he has to flush them all away. I'm just saying a lot

sweet insanity

The idea of insanity in horror films is very useful. While giving limitless options it also allows for reasonless killings. But while reasonless it must also be reasonable.

cinema voir drunk rant

The new blog is running and good to go! Drunk Rant was the start of my movie reviews. Over time, like many other writers, I was asked to take over my own blog. First I went to movies and life. Feel free to refer to a recent post for what happened. Now I am the writer for cinemavoir.com

breathing room
Breathing Room

The question of how humans will react in extreme situation of life and death will always be of interest.
The situation is: you awake with no memory of how you got to a room with 13 strangers. It is generally understood that you will embark on a game where the winner lives and the losers die. Clues to help you survive are slowly givin to you. You can't trust anyone

Tracy readers by drunk rant

May 19th 2009 23:14
So you probably have noticed the sudden change in writing style from Tracy to a inaccurate, misspelling, jumpy, wine drinking, incoherent, new writer.
Well, do to Tracy's lack of writing... just kidding Tracy... do to Tracy's blog being listed as inactive, orble had offered Jake 5/ Drunk Rant a blog to take over and write for. Little did I know Tracy was active and very much loved by her subscribers.
In the meantime you have been checking out Drunk rant/jake5 on moviesandlife.net. Soon it will be back to the "good old days" with Tracy back at the helm

Work is done. I grab my flops and head to the mailbox for the movies that await me. After pouring Grapefruit and Vodka over ice into a plastic clear tinted green cup I sit down to enjoy a new movie

Tracy -
Thanks for the support.

What? haha

King Jason - (i like it better that way)
Good suggestions! I think I do get into this feeling like I should review every movie I watch. That's never gonna happen. Plus, if it's late enough, I can't really type by then anyway and probably should have made some notes or just watch the movie over again.
I do love the druggy movies. And I'm always ready to hear the ones others like.

Nevar -
Thanks. That is the first time I've had someone use my post to communicate back to someone else.

Thanks for the comments... It makes me feel warm inside much like this bourbon

One thing I think about in this movie is how he seems to have plenty of money but alsonot so much? I guess it shows how we spend out money when we want to.

Amen Morgan,

Maybe I am wrong but didn't Myspace start it all... Kinda my point in the first place.
I think the elephant in the room is "myspace is for kids while facebook is for the respectable adult"
Well I'm a toys'r'us kid.

What the hell was up with the weak voting! I wasn't around last year to vote. But I sure was thinking I woulda seen more once I saw your post. I was interested to see if there would be more votes for newer movies. Classics are of course just things you can't replace. But I like the idea of seeing what everyone thinks of the movies past those that are always gonna lead the wolf pack.
It was fun though

Haha Tracy,
Not one of the better ones I've seen

Ok, I done thinking this over. I could take forever because I tend to forget what I saw.

1. The Exorcist

2. Amusement

3. IT

4. High Tension

5. Vacancy

Clowns freak me out! And the idea of someone invading your home. Or hotel for that matter. And for my number one I am trying to rightfully move up the exorcist.

Ok Bryn,

I have a question... I am putting some thought into this. I really want to add Vacancy to my list, but only because it freaked me out! Not like it was some sorta special movie but it really got to me! The whole door knocking part freaked me out! Was I drunk? or does this movie deserve to be in the top 5?
